I can. But I’m not going to.

I don’t want your dog to shrink away while I insist on ruffling their hair up.
They don’t need me to touch them to prove “I’m safe”.

What they actually need is for me to keep my hands in my pocket and wait for some signals of consent.

We have a tactile “obsession” when it comes to dogs.

Maybe it starts when they’re puppies and their squidginess draws our hands in.
100% their fur and wee fat rolls combined are irresistible.
From there though, it can become a habit.

We see a person up the street we haven’t seen for a while, stop for a chat and our hand goes down to pat while we say “Aww whose this wee girl”.
That’s how easy these habits grow.

They’re ingrained.

How about we start to normalise not touching?
And start normalising watching for consent.

Friday mood: Kori. 😴🐾

After a full week of zoomies, chasing friends, and supervising absolutely everything, Kori officially clocked out.

We’re not sure if this is a dog, a furry sofa ornament, or someone’s tired uncle after Christmas dinner… but one thing’s for sure—Kori had absolutely zero energy left by Friday afternoon. 😂

While the other dogs were finding cosy spots for a nap, Kori decided to take relaxation to a whole new level and perfected the art of doing absolutely nothing.

Safe to say, this week’s Employee of the Week award goes to Kori for demonstrating outstanding commitment to rest and recovery. 🏆💤

What a lovely few days we've been having!
The dogs have been making the most of the nice weather with plenty of playtime, zoomies, sniffing adventures, and lots of tail wags. Safe to say we've got some very happy - and very tired - pups heading home today!

It's also been an early birthday celebration for little Leo, who has been soaking up all the attention, treats, and fun with his best furry friends!

As much as we all enjoy the sunshine, it's also a good reminder that extreme temperatures can be dangerous for our dogs. Even when they seem full of energy, heat can affect them very quickly, so always make sure they have access to shade, fresh water, and time to cool down. Pavements can also get much hotter than we realise on little paws.

We'll always make sure our daycare dogs stay safe, comfortable, and well looked after while still having all the fun they can handle!
