25th and 2nd December @ 7.00 - 8,00pm located at Britford Village Hall, 2 High Rd, Salisbury SP5 4DS.

✅ Do you want to learn how to succeed through those early weeks and months living with energetic puppies - the sharp puppy teeth, the chewing, teething and toilet training etc?

✅ Do you want to learn with your puppy and teach them to walk nicely on a lead, recall when you need them, leave things you don’t want them to have etc?

It takes time, patience, consistency, and plenty of practice. Put in the hard work, keep training positive, and don’t give up when it gets difficult.

🐾✨ Transforming Lives, One Paw at a Time! ✨🐾

I realise this post could be quite divisive but it’s what I’m all about and so I am allowed my opinion.

After 28 years dedicated to ethical, force-free dog training, I can confidently say this positive reinforcement lark, is the key to unlocking the best results for our dogs. Over the years, the science of dog training has evolved significantly, with loads of studies in the UK and around the world show the effectiveness of positive methods over outdated negative reinforcement techniques.

Research consistently shows that positive reinforcement not only promotes a more trusting relationship between dogs and their owners but also leads to lasting behaviour changes. For instance, a study published in the “Journal of Veterinary Behaviour”highlighted that dogs trained with positive methods exhibited fewer stress-related behaviours and were more eager to learn.

If you value these methods and are looking for a dog trainer, I urge you to do your homework. Ask critical questions: Does the trainer utilise tools like E-collars or prong collars? Remember, the right trainer will look after your dog’s emotional well-being and promote a relationship built on trust and respect.

Attention, Dog Owners! 🚨

Every day, we see heart-wrenching posts in our community about dogs that have run away from home. We see owners everyday turning to local Facebook groups, desperately seeking help to find their dogs . 😢

So let’s talk about prevention, and the importance of safeguarding against this. Teaching your dog bullet proof recall from a young age is crucial.

Below are some things to consider!!

• Have a name and number tag attached to the collar, so if they do go missing you can be contacted

• Consider a GPS tracker as a collar attachment, you can then at least track your missing dog.

• Don’t chase them it’s likely that will keep running. Instead it’s best to stay where you are as dogs will often come back to where they ran off from.

But more importantly you should consider ⬇️

• Stronger Bond: Consistent recall training enhances your relationship with your dog, building trust and communication.

• Safety First: A dog that comes when called is less likely to wander off, reducing the risk of accidents or getting lost.

• Freedom to Explore: With reliable recall, you can allow your dog to enjoy more freedom during walks and playtime, knowing they’ll return when called.

Even if you missed the chance to train your puppy, it’s never too late! There is still time to teach your dog to come back every time.

1. Start Small: Begin in a controlled environment like your home or a garden

2. Use Positive Reinforcement: Reward your dog with treats and praise when they respond to your call.

3. Practice Regularly: Incorporate recall training into daily routines to reinforce the Behaviour.

4. Make it Fun: Use games like hide-and-seek to keep your dog engaged and excited about coming when called.

By investing time in training, you not only enhance your dog’s safety but also strengthen your bond, making it less likely they will run off in the first place.

Met Phil today, gorgeous pocket bully. We practised recall, not jumping up, engagement training, loose lead walking and brain games. He such a sweet boy, boisterous, full of life. Loving , kind boy. He’s responding very well to training, so are his owners 😂 They said initially he is not food driven but my treats are always the best ones and work like a treat 🌭🐾

Look forward to session 2 and will be supporting the ladies until we see again next time
