🌟NEW ARRIVAL🌟

We've had two recent new arrivals. You've already met GINA so we're pleased to introduce another, brindle girl BEAUTY.

At just three years of age, lovely BEAUTY joined us on the 4th October 2026. As it's very early days we will let her settle in and let you know more about her soon.
Welcome to Makants, BEAUTY!

🌟FRIDAY FEATURE🌟

💗AUDREY💗
D.O.B. 30.6.21

Stunning five year old fawn girl AUDREY arrived with us on the 11th September and has settled in well.

Audrey is a friendly girl who can have her 'giddy' moments but loves her walks and our volunteers too. Audrey can be timid at times on her walks, usually when she encounters something new to her, but her confidence is increasing each passing day.

We are looking for a home where Audrey can be the only dog in the household as she does like all the attention for herself! Adopters would need to have previous large dog experience and we would prefer any children in the household to be 8 years plus. Audrey could not live with small dogs.

🔸Only dog in the household
🔸Large dog experience
🔸No small dogs
🔸Children 8 plus

You can find details on our homing requirements on our website www.makants.uk or via this link: https://makants.uk/adopt-foster/

🌟DOG OF THE MONTH FOR OCTOBER🌟

💗ALICE💗

D.O.B. 24.9.19

Having recently celebrated her seventh birthday, Alice is our dog of the month for October. She joined us in September last year and soon settled in. This lovely girl, even though she is seven years of age, is very fit for her age and does look forward to her daily walks.

Alice is a character, is full of personality and doesn't want to miss a thing. She especially loves toys and to pinch them off other greyhounds if possible!

Alice is a very affectionate girl with all our volunteers and also loves to spend time with the other greyhounds. She also enjoys spending time in our enrichment (home from home) room and sensory garden and especially enjoys playing with toys and watching the TV.

Alice has enjoyed several days out with one of our experienced volunteers and we’re told she has enjoyed all the new experiences on offer and was very relaxed when visiting their home afterwards. Alice travels well in the car too.

Due to all the work undertaken by our volunteers Alice is a much more settled girl now compared to when she first arrived with us. Her reactivity to other breeds has considerably lessened and she will now walk past other breeds calmly.

For Alice we’re looking for a home with someone who has experience of larger dogs, but not necessarily greyhounds. We feel Alice would be happy to live as an only hound or could equally happily live with another male hound. She would benefit from the company of an adopter who is at home a large amount of time, and this is especially important during the initial settling in phase. We feel Alice would be best suited to live with older children 13 plus.

*No cats or small dogs
*Children 13 plus
*Needs company at home

🌟WHY ADOPT A GREYHOUND THROUGH OUR RESCUE?🌟

Makants Greyhound Rescue is a well established, volunteer led and an independent self funded rescue (founded in 2013) with over 780 greyhounds homed by us to date.

If you’re thinking of adoption we’ll be with you EVERY step of the way.

🔶We can offer you support, BEFORE, DURING and AFTER Adoption!

🔶BEFORE adoption:
*We offer an opportunity to meet a greyhound and ask questions with a knowledgeable volunteer. An ideal way to find out more about greyhounds as pets (by appointment only)
*We encourage you to walk the greyhounds at kennels several times to get to know the breed

🔶DURING the adoption process:
*You will have a home visit from our rehoming coordinator to discuss suitable greyhounds and be made aware of our homing requirements (details of requirements can be found on our website)
*A two week home trial is offered before adopting your greyhound - with support available at the end of the 'phone during this time

🔶AFTER adoption:
*Continued 'phone support where needed
*There is the opportunity to attend monthly nail clipping sessions with your greyhound, held at our kennels in familiar surroundings
*Opportunities exist to attend social sighthound walks in the local area, organised by rescue volunteers. A great way to connect with other sighthound owners
*We have a dedicated private facebook group ‘Makants Amigos’ for adopters of Makants greyhounds, an ideal way to connect with other adopters
*An on site kennels shop, open twice weekly, for all your greyhound needs staffed by knowledgeable volunteers

🐾🎂🐾Happy 8th Birthday, Evie - our favourite sh*tbag (and we wouldn't have her any other way)!!!🤣 She's fast asleep now after joining 112 other sighthounds this morning on Makants Greyhound Rescue NW walk at Windy Bank Woods as part of the GGGW '26 . Presents and cake later when she (and Robbie) wakes up.
