🌟FRIDAY FEATURE🌟

💗ALICE💗
D.O.B. 24.9.19

6 year old Alice joined us in September last year and soon settled in. This lovely girl, even though she is six years of age, is very fit for her age and does look forward to her daily walks.

Alice is a character, is full of personality and doesn't want to miss a thing. She especially loves toys and to pinch them off other greyhounds if possible!

Alice is a very affectionate girl with all our volunteers and also loves to spend time with the other greyhounds. She has spent some time in our enrichment (home from home) room and enjoys playing with toys and watching the TV.

Alice has recently enjoyed several days out with one of our experienced volunteers and we’re told she enjoyed all the new experiences on offer, and was very relaxed when visiting their home afterwards. Alice travels well in the car too.

Due to all the work undertaken by our volunteers Alice is a much more settled girl now compared to when she arrived with us. Her reactivity to other breeds has considerably lessened and she will now walk past other breeds calmly.

For Alice we’re looking for a home with someone who has experience of larger dogs, but not necessarily greyhounds. We feel Alice would be happy to live as an only hound or could equally happily live with another male hound. She would benefit from the company of an adopter who is at home a large amount of time, and this is especially important during the initial settling in phase. We feel Alice would be best suited to live with older children 13 plus.

Four year old LEXI arrived with us on the 22nd July 2026.

It's still very early days for this girl but she is settling in well.

We'll have more information to share soon but for now we welcome LEXI to
the Makants family.💗

🌟DOG OF THE MONTH FOR AUGUST 2026🌟
💗DANCER💗
(DOB 1.11.22)

3.5 year old DANCER joined us on the 8th June 2026 along with his brother MO.

DANCER is a lovely boy who walks well on the lead and enjoys time spent with our volunteers. He has been taking in all the new experiences on offer and has enjoyed time spent in our enrichment (home from home) room and especially enjoys playing with toys.

We're looking for a home where DANCER would have company for a large part of the day. We feel DANCER could not be homed with cats or small dogs and we would prefer any children in the home to be aged 13 plus.

NEW ARRIVAL!

💗CASH💗

We've a new arrival to introduce to you today, handsome 4 year old white and black boy CASH, who arrived with us on the 22nd July 2026.

Although it's still early days he is settling in well and showing us what a gentle and loving boy he is! We'll have more information to share soon but for now we welcome CASH to the Makants family.

(CASH is modelling a handmade bandana made by a member of our crafters group, available in our kennels shop)

🌟FRIDAY FEATURE🌟

💗REGGIE💗
D.O.B. 5.1.20

Now 6 years old, REGGIE arrived with us in April 2024.

REGGIE is a very loving dog and we’ve found him to be a very friendly and affectionate boy who loves fuss and his toys in equal measure. He loves to meet any visitors to kennels and laps up the attention - and he certainly has a well established fan club amongst the volunteers at kennels!

As well as his daily walks he has enjoyed days out to Rivington and he recently had a sleepover with Lisa, one of our volunteers. We’re told he behaved impeccably settling to sleep with no fuss at all and was clean in the house throughout his stay. In fact Lisa said he had been an ‘absolute delight’ to have in the home.

The only thing that lets Reggie down is his reactivity towards other breeds of dog. Having said that his reactivity can be selective and his behaviour has improved thanks to work undertaken by our walking volunteers.

We think REGGIE would be happy to live as an only dog as he would love nothing more than having all the humans to himself and would like someone around for some part of the day. We're looking for adopters with some experience of owning a large dog, not necessarily a greyhound, for him.

🌟MEET A GREYHOUND EVENT 🌟

We have planned another of our 'Meet a Greyhound' events which will take place at kennels on:

Saturday 1st August 2026 between 10.30 am and 12.30 pm

Through these events we hope to interest more people new to the breed who are keen to find out about greyhounds and greyhound adoption. It is an ideal opportunity to come along to kennels, ask questions, and meet a greyhound at the same time.

'Everything you've ever wanted to know about greyhounds...but were afraid to ask!'

💗SKIPPY💗 (male)
D.O.B. 12.5.22

Four year old SKIPPY arrived with us on the 21st June 2026.

SKIPPY is on the smaller side for a male, and is an affectionate boy who likes to give our volunteers cuddles. Already described by Siobhan as 'really sweet', he' s settling in well.

SKIPPY walks well on the lead and is enjoying his walks. He has just realised there are other breeds of dog apart from greyhounds and is now getting used to smaller breeds through exposure on his daily walk.

SKIPPY has also spent some time in our enrichment (home from home) room and has coped well with all the new experiences he's had in there.
