It’s a hard industry with corporate companies taking the profits yet the vet goes from vaccinating cute puppies and kittens to euthanasia in one appointment.

Ginger Cat Appreciation Day is celebrated every year on September 1st to honor orange felines and promote animal adoption.

About the DayFounder:
Software developer Chris Roy created the day in 2014 to remember his 17-year-old ginger cat named Doobert.

Mission: The observance encourages people to support animal shelters and consider adopting rescue pets.

Genetics: About 80% of ginger cats are male because the orange coat gene sits on the X chromosome. We have had 3 red girls in one litter!

Fun Fact but incorrect - Orange cats are always tabbies and can develop cute freckles on their noses over time.. Red cats can be solid and red is ginger!!

Nominations close on 31 August but it’s the businesses with the strongest community support who move through to the finalist shortlist.

In practice: the more real, human nominations you gather, the better your chance of making it through which is so hard for a little cat hotel in Newton Le Willows with only 15 rooms!

The rain may be pouring outside, but that hasn’t stopped our lovely guests from enjoying their holiday at the cat hotel! 🏨🐱💕

Today we have:

👑 Beautiful Bella – looking every inch the holiday princess! ✨

🌸 Delightful Darcy – bringing a little sunshine to this very soggy day! ☀️🌧️

💖 Marvellous Maisie – simply too gorgeous for a rainy day! 😻

😴 Relaxed Ralph – taking the “holiday” part very seriously! 💤

🖤 Neo – our very special, no-eyed, but very loved boy. 💕 He may not be able to see the rain, but he certainly knows how to enjoy his cosy holiday! 🥰

👑 Gorgeous George – looking handsome as ever and completely unfazed by the weather!

🤗 Huggable Harris – ready for all the cuddles while the rain does its thing outside! 💕
