Aero-Tug convert! 💙

I brought the Tug-E-Nuff Aero-Tug out during a 1-2-1 training session recently and it was an instant hit, not just with the dog either! 😂

After plenty of chasing, retrieving and tugging, the owner suddenly says...

"I think I'll get one for me, maybe I like it more than the dog!" 🤣

Can you believe it? Tails Trails is turning 11 this month! 🥳

To celebrate, I'd love you and your dog to join us for a very special Birthday Tea Party on Sunday 23rd August!

Expect a relaxed, fun-filled morning with plenty of wagging tails, friendly faces and, of course... birthday cake!

Does your dog only listen to one person in the house? This could be why...

Everyone Has Different Rules...

One person lets the dog on the sofa.
Another tells them "Off."

One person rewards jumping up because it's "cute."
Someone else gets frustrated when muddy paws land on their clothes.

One person says "Down."
Another says "Off."
Someone else says "Get down."

Sound familiar?

The problem isn't your dog... it's that they're trying to work out which rules apply and when!

Dogs learn through consistency. The clearer we are, the quicker they understand what's expected.

That doesn't mean every member of the family has to train exactly the same way, but agreeing on a few key things can make a huge difference:

🐾 What words will you use?
🐾 What behaviours will you reward?
🐾 What behaviours won't you encourage?
🐾 What are the house rules?

The look of confusion appears, yet when everyone is on the same page, life becomes much less confusing for your dog... and much less frustrating for you too.

Can we normalise saying that sometimes… our dogs are just being little arses? 😂

Not every bad day is because you’ve done something wrong.
Not every wild moment is because your energy is off, your timing is wrong, or you’ve somehow “failed” your dog.

Some days, they’re just being absolute chaos gremlins - sums them up some days right?

And honestly? I think more dog owners need to hear that.

Because living with challenging behaviour can be HARD. Even when you love them endlessly. Even when you understand why they’re doing it. Even when you know they’re not trying to give you a hard time.

It can still feel exhausting.

You brace yourself before the walk.
You’re already tense clipping the lead on.
You might even have an "argument" putting that lead or harness on.
You spend the whole outing anticipating what might happen next.

That takes a toll.

So here’s your reminder coming into a new week:
You do not have to train through every single chaotic moment.

If your dog is in full goblin mode, overtired, over-aroused, bitey, barky, zooming round the house like a tasmanian devil on espresso… give everyone a break.
Let everyone reset.

No shouting.
No drama.
No guilt.

Sometimes the best thing you can do is simply say:
“Right bubs, you’re done for two minutes.” 😂

Training doesn’t always have to look perfect. Sometimes management IS the training.

And for anyone who needs to hear it today…

You are not failing.
Your dog is not ruined.
They’re just being a little menace today and you've got this 💙

(full disclosure, I'm not talking about *this* dog, but she got your attention right, isn't she a sweetie!)
