💚 🐾 May is Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month, and this year we’re celebrating the ‘Compassion, Empathy and Dedication’ that veterinary nurses bring to their role every single day.🩺

🐾 Our nursing team have put together this video to give an insight into what their job really involves. From patient care and monitoring anaesthetics to supporting owners, assisting with procedures and caring for pets throughout their visit, veterinary nursing is a highly skilled and incredibly varied profession.

☀️With warmer weather on the way, it's important to help our pets stay cool and comfortable.
🐾 Always provide plenty of fresh drinking water�🐾 Walk dogs during the cooler parts of the day – early morning or late evening�🐾 Never leave a pet in a parked car, even for a few minutes�🐾 Make sure pets have access to shade and cool resting areas�🐾 Remember that pavements can become hot enough to burn paws – if it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for their feet�🐾 Rabbits, guinea pigs and other small pets also need shade, ventilation and fresh water throughout the day
⚠️ Signs of heatstroke can include excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, wobbliness, vomiting, collapse or difficulty breathing. Heatstroke is an emergency and requires immediate veterinary attention.
If you're concerned that your pet may be struggling in the heat, please contact us on 01983 214747 straight away for advice, our on call vet is available throughout the weekend and bank holiday Monday 💚

⚖️ Tilly popped in for her weight clinic with RVN Holly today… and since starting in February she’s officially lost an amazing 2.9kg! 👏🐶
Our nurse-led weight clinics are all about realistic goals, tailored nutrition advice and ongoing support in a completely judgement-free space. 😇 Small changes can make a huge difference to pets’ health in not only help to reduce weight but decrease the risks of a myriad of health conditions related to or exacerbated by obesity, for example, diabetes, pancreatitis, osteoarthritis and heart conditions ‼️. Our nurse clinics monitor weight, body measurements, calorie guidance and personalised feeding plans — plus lots of encouragement along the way! 💚💙

Meet Laika the Anatolian Shepherd 🐾
Not a breed we see every day on the Island! Laika popped in for a nail clip and, in true livestock guardian style, was completely unbothered by the whole thing. She stretched out on the sofa, let us get on with it, and generally behaved like the queen she clearly knows she is 👑
