Meet my current foster hamsters looking for their forever home🏡

Imogen - Imogen is a cream and white, fluffy, female, syrian hamster. She is a bit nervous but has come on so much since arriving at the rescue. She’s gone from running away from your hand, to happily letting you have a stroke. She did have a bit of a sticky eye when she arrived but we think this was either due to stress/ environment as this has not appeared since arriving. Imogen needs a kind and patient home who don’t mind working with her to help her feel comfortable. She’s super nosy and will follow you around the room from the comfort of her enclosure - constantly nosing at what you’re doing!

Coconut - Coconut is a sweet, brown, female Syrian with four little white socks. Coconut is quite a confident female who is happy to be held and interacted with. She’s got a big personality and likes to be kept busy with enrichment. Coconut does have some warts around her face which have been checked by the vet - and have been reassured that they’re likely to never cause her any issues. They were there when she came to the rescue and have remained the same since being in our care - however this would need to be monitored by her new home.

If you can either of these girls a forever home - contact Hundred Acre Hamster Rescue to discuss our adoption process 💗

A tough couple of weeks💔

Unfortunately we found Sparrow in her forever sleep one day. She was one of the first three ducks to arrive at our home and taught us so much and helped us expand our coop into the duck home it is today.

We also found Timon and Pumba, two of our girl guinea pigs in their forever sleep within a week of each other. The girls had come together, so likely had a similar history and age. These girls are the reason I got to know the amazing Cheshire Guinea Pig Rescue as I needed a friend for Kiara which has now turned into becoming a foster for them, specifically for the special needs/ forever fosters.

Lastly, we had to make the tough decision to have Acorn one of our female rats put to sleep. She had a funny turn over night which after a vet visit was determined it was neurological and we made the decision to let her rest in peace as not much could be done to lessen the symptoms and give her a good quality of life.

Months like this are hard - but this is one of the harder parts of loving animals and I like to make sure they’re remembered and loved, even after their passing.

Meet Milo🧡

Milo is our newest forever foster from Cheshire Guinea Pig Rescue and is bonded to Lumier - we contacted CGPR when we lost Owl to see if they had any older special gents needing a forever home with a friend.

Milo joined the rescue with his brother James back in September 2022 - the boys had been together forever so loosing James was hard on Milo. So I’m very greatful he took Lumi under his wing so they both could live out their old man days with a friend. He’s a 7 year old piggie with the cutest piggy lips!

Milo has a condition known as Heterotopic Bone Formation (HBF) which is abnormal growth of bone tissue within soft tissue, particularly in the eye area, which is why one of his eyes looks like it has a cataracts.

Him and Lumi have settled in so well together and have joined the OAP’s (Old Ageing Piggies🤪) of the shed!

Sponsor the snip!✂️

Cheshire Guinea Pig Rescue are urgently trying to fundraise to get a large amount of boys neutered.

Some male guinea pigs find it too difficult to live with another boy, so neuteuring them gives them the chance to be bonded to a girl/ herd of girls so they’re able to have a fulfilled wellbeing as a herd animal.

It costs about £100 to neuteur one Guinea Pig, and with so many of their new intakes being boys needing neuteuring, the rescue needs our help.

Every penny counts so if you can help please do!

Our Zazu, who was from CGPR, was one of these boys who couldn’t settle into a pair with another boar. Zazu now lives in a herd of girls which he loves - so let’s give these boys the same chance🐹
