Not all of the dogs I look after need a long walk! Sonny the Great Dane is 8 years old which is very old for this beautiful giant breed, so he loves a little walk and then some cuddles in the field ❤️🥰

Let’s discuss… REVIEWS 🙈

The good, the bad, and the ugly 😆

As a small business owner, I have built my business from nothing. Literally nothing. I came up with the name, I designed the logo, I answer 30+ messages a day, reply to comments, post fun and engaging content, write invoices, check payments, purchase equipment, learn new skills and expand my knowledge and so much more!

On top of this, I offer 8 different types of services and look after every type of pet from dogs and cats, to working with exotics and looking after farms 🙈

So you can imagine the amount of work I put in every single day to ensure all of my pets receive only the BEST professional care from me 🥰❤️

I don’t ask people for anything usually, I tend to work things out on my own. But the easiest thing you can do to help me keep my business successful - leave me a nice review 🙈❤️

I’m extremely proud of the work I do, and very grateful to have over 70 PERFECT reviews on Facebook alone! But I also have over 300 clients 😂

Whether I currently look after your pets, or have in the past, I would really appreciate if you could leave me a review ☺️

⭐️ Here’s how to leave me a review: ⭐️

- Click on my page (Rach’s Walkies & Pet Care)
- Click on my reviews under the ‘Details’ section (highlighted in blue)
- Click ‘YES I RECOMMEND’ at the top
- Write your review (as detailed or short as you want, you can even add a picture of your pets 🥰)
- Check that your post is set to ‘public’ and post it!
- DONE! It’s as simple as that ❤️

Please note: Facebook allows 1 review per account so you can’t post multiple 🙂

I’ve been struggling with how to word this post.

On the week of the 13th July, my 2 year old will be having an operation that we’ve been waiting for since he was only a couple of days old. The recovery will be difficult for him and us, so I need to be there for my baby and our family ❤️

I very rarely cancel my work, but my kids will always come first. My partner and I will be at home/hospital with our son for at least this week. Between us we will try to do some jobs here and there, whilst also sorting childcare for our daughter and our puppy Oaks.

Every time I write this post, I cry. I’m not sure how to say things, I’m absolutely terrified but so grateful that we finally have a surgery date so soon he won’t be in pain anymore.

I might not be as quick with replies to messages, but please be kind during these next few weeks. I will not be answering phone calls from clients during this time. Please MESSAGE only. I will get back to people when I can.

Thank you to everyone that I’ve had to cancel that has been so supportive and understanding! Obviously a week or more of no income for both of us is going to have an effect as we’re both self-employed, but our priority is our boy 🥰

I rarely post my kids online so I know some people aren’t aware, but we have a 1 year old and a 2 year old as well as Oaks, and they are our absolute world ❤️

Here we go again…

The HEAT! 🥵

By now, I should hope we all know the risk of heatstroke to our pups during this weather! But have you thought of the best ways to help cool them down and keep them safe whilst also allowing mental stimulation?

As a Spaniel-Mum and a puppy-Mum, I know how much energy our dogs can have when they don’t get their walks, so here are some fun ideas to keep your pups happy and healthy during the heat!

Do you have any other ideas? Comment them below or share some pics of your pets enjoying the nice weather! 🥰

🥕 Frozen fruit/veg - carrots, cucumbers, pears, watermelon, iceberg lettuce. There are so many options! A whole frozen iceberg lettuce is great enrichment for a dog to shred in the (shaded) garden! Whole carrots or thin slices, these can be easily adapted to your dog’s size and ability. They can also be made into pupsicles 😉🍦🍭

💧 Water - it sounds obvious, but even a large plastic storage tub can make a brilliant paddling pool! Sprinklers, a garden hose, and even watering cans can all provide entertainment for water-loving pups.

🛏️ Cooling beds/mats - whether you buy a specific pet cooling bed or mat, or just use a large damp towel, pets love to lie on cooler surfaces.

🧸 Enrichment toys - these can be anything from Kongs and snuffle mats, to DIY creations! Cardboard egg boxes, tubes, plastic bottles, rolled up towels or knotted fabrics (like an old t-shirt) are all brilliant enrichment when filled with food or treats!

🎽 Cooling ‘clothes’ - yes, your dog can wear clothes! Well, kind of 😂 you can buy cooling vests, collars, coats etc for your dog! Usually these are either made to be put in the fridge for a few mins to cool, or you simply wet them with some cool water. If you don’t have any of these, an old thin t-shirt cut to your pup’s side can provide a similar effect.

🦴 Freezer toys - there are some toys that can be filled with water, frozen and then given to your pup. They’re usually made from a rubber-type material but a lot of dogs love these as they melt and lick the water off them.

DISCLAIMER - Please make sure pets are supervised at all times. You know your dog better than anyone, if you think they’d chew a cooling vest, don’t put one on them! Safety is always my number 1 priority ❤️

Pic of my puppy, Oakley, enjoying the cool kitchen floor rather than one of his 4 beds 😆

IMPORTANT - walks this coming week may be cancelled or changed to drop in visits! I will NOT put any pets at risk, just for the sake of a walk. Any dogs that are walked, will be in shaded areas, if it’s a cooler time of the day. Each walk will be assessed individually everyday and if it becomes too hot before the walk is finished, it will be cut short.

Owners will be notified of any changes and I’m trying to message everyone too. PLEASE do not ask me to still walk them when it’s 20+. It’s my duty to keep your pets safe whilst in my care so that may mean some changes.

It is especially dangerous for certain breeds, thicker/longer coated dogs, older dogs and puppies, dogs with health conditions BUT the heat can kill ANY dog. Please be careful!!

Of course, no cancellation fee for this! None of us can help the weather.

Please take care with your dogs in this hot weather. Drive to your local woods if you can for a walk, it is so much cooler for them under the shade. Everyone have a lovely sunny weekend
