Reggie and Poppet have been coming to me since they were puppies, and it’s been a pleasure watching them grow and I've built such a lovely bond with them.

They are both completely happy and content in the salon, and over time I’ve got to know all their little quirks and personalities, helping to make their grooming experience as relaxed and enjoyable as possible.

Reggie is so chilled during his groom that he often falls asleep standing up. Poppet absolutely loves the attention and is always happy to soak up all the fuss and cuddles.

Seeing dogs feel comfortable, safe, and relaxed in the salon is one of the most rewarding parts of my job. These two are always a joy to groom and brighten my day.

Meet Aki

Aki the Akita had his first groom with me and what a pleasure it was to meet him.

Aki was rescued by his owners some time ago, and they’ve clearly put so much love, patience, and hard work into helping him become the wonderful boy we see today. Their dedication really shines through.

As an older gentleman, Aki finds standing for long periods a challenge, so I worked at his pace throughout his groom. He calmly walked up his ramp and into the bath, and when it came to drying, he was happy to lie down, only standing for short bursts when he could to help me get the job done.

He did incredibly well, and by the end of his groom all that loose undercoat has been blasted and brushed out, leaving him feeling clean, comfortable, and looking his best.

Those who attended the Rugeley Welfare for Dogs event this weekend and brought their dogs along to have a go at Flyball with Cannock Chasers flyball team.

The photographer Rob Willis has now released the photos from the have a go Flyball, and they are absolutely amazing!

Wallace is a member of this Flyball group, and just look at these incredible action shots. They really capture the speed, excitement, and fun of Flyball.

Well... we're finally sitting down after today's event.

A massive thank you to everyone who stopped by the Ruff to Regal stand today. It was a full family affair with my mom, my partner, Isabella, me, and of course Wallace, who clearly believed the whole event had been organised just for him.

I honestly don't think any of us stopped talking all day. It was lovely to see so many familiar faces and meet lots of new ones too. Thank you for all the support, kind words, cuddles, treats and encouragement.

Wallace was living his best celebrity life, greeting everyone and soaking up every bit of attention he could get. In fact, while Isabella was in the Junior Handler class, he decided she wasn't handling him quite the way he wanted and promptly escaped. One minute they were competing, the next Wallace was doing an unscheduled lap of the arena, strutting around like he'd paid for the event and making sure every single eye was on him.

Thankfully, Isabella took it all in her stride and was absolutely over the moon to win Junior Handler. Then somehow, despite Wallace's brief audition for freedom, the pair of them went on to win Best in Show.

We're incredibly proud, slightly exhausted, and fairly certain Wallace now thinks he's some sort of celebrity.

Thank you all for making it such a brilliant day. A fantastic charity, fantastic people and a fantastic atmosphere.

We'll be back doing it all again in two weeks at Armitage... assuming Wallace hasn't hired himself an agent by then! 😆

Im so excited to be attending this fantastic event and I would love to see lots of our Ruff to Regal family there.

Come and find me at our stall for a chat, whether you're a regular client or just getting to know Ruff to Regal. I always love meeting fellow dog lovers and of course your dogs.

Don't forget to enter your dog into the dog show. Every dog is a star in my eyes, but it's a lovely chance to celebrate them.

You'll also be able to have a go at flyball, which just happens to be Wallace's favourite thing in the world. If you've never tried it before, this is the perfect opportunity to give it a go and see your dog have some fun.

And speaking of Wallace, he'll be there too. As one of the inspirations behind Ruff to Regal, he's a very special part of my story, and he'd love to meet you (and accept a fuss or two).

I can't wait for a day full of happy dogs, wagging tails and great company. Make sure you pop over and say hello.

These gorgeous Newfoundland siblings came in for their grooms today.

Newfoundlands are famous for their beautiful double coats, but not all Newfoundland coats behave the same. Bailey has what's commonly known as a neutered coat, which is something we see quite often in grooming salons.

A neutered coat can become much softer, fluffier and denser than a typical coat, meaning it can hold onto loose hair more easily and is much more prone to tangles and matting. In comparison, an entire dog's coat is often a little harsher in texture and tends to be easier to maintain.

This doesn't mean there's anything wrong with a neutered coat. It just means it often needs a little more help from both owners and their groomer to keep it in good condition.

Regular grooming is so important for breeds like Newfoundlands, helping to remove dead coat, prevent matting, keep the skin healthy and make them more comfortable, especially when they're carrying so much coat.

Bailey and his sister Mabel were both absolute stars for their pamper. Such lovely, gentle dogs and a pleasure to spend time with.

Hello everyone,

I thought it was about time I introduced myself properly, especially as there are lots of new faces following Ruff to Regal.

I'm Lizzie, and I'm the owner and groomer behind Ruff to Regal. If you've been bringing your dog to me for a while, you'll know I'm always happy to have a chat at appointments, but I realised I don't often share much about myself on here.

This photo features two of the most important girls in my life. My daughter Isabella and my beautiful Springer Spaniel, Pippa.

Pippa was one of the inspirations behind Ruff to Regal and is still very much a part of the business through my logo. Sadly, I lost her in August last year. She was my soul dog, and anyone who has had that special dog in their life will understand the bond that never really leaves you.

Pippa is also a huge part of the reason I strive to change the way grooming is viewed and experienced by dogs. She taught me so much about understanding dogs as individuals, listening to what they're telling us, and putting their emotional wellbeing first. That philosophy is at the heart of everything I do and the reason I am so passionate about creating a positive, comfortable grooming experience for every dog that comes into my salon.

Dogs have always been my passion, which is why I'm constantly studying and developing my skills to give every dog the very best care possible. Their comfort, wellbeing and happiness will always come first.

When I'm not in the salon, studying, or out walking the dogs, you'll usually find me spending time with my daughter Isabella. She keeps me busy, keeps me laughing, and is my biggest motivation.

Ruff to Regal was built on the belief that grooming should be about more than just how a dog looks when they leave the salon. It should be about how they feel throughout the process too.

Whether you've been supporting my business for years or you've only recently found my page, thank you for being here. Your support means the world to me, and I'm incredibly grateful that you've chosen to trust me with your dogs.

Short haired dogs benefit from grooming too. A good deshed helps remove loose hair, reduce shedding around the home, and keep the coat healthy and shiny. Billy also had his nails clipped and left looking and feeling his best.

I'm Back!

After a lovely holiday and some much needed family time, I'm back and ready to welcome you all back to Ruff to Regal.

With the warmer weather here and more heatwaves likely over the summer, now is a great time to get grooming appointments booked in advance. My diary can fill up quickly, and planning ahead helps make sure your dog stays comfortable and looking their best.
