🐾 Foxholes Farm Dog Park — A Dog Walker’s Review 🐾
We’ve just visited Foxholes Farm Dog Park, and I have to say, we left feeling both pleasantly exhausted and genuinely impressed!
It’s immediately obvious that a huge amount of thought, care and attention to detail has gone into creating this space. From the separate parking area with plenty of space for multiple vehicles, to the coffee machine, on-site toilet facilities (which, if you’re anything like me and need the loo every hour, is a VERY welcome addition 😂), and all the other thoughtful touches around the site, it’s clear that the owners have considered what people and their dogs actually need.
And then there’s the field itself! 🐶
There are so many details that I could probably write an essay trying to list them all, but honestly, you really need to visit and experience it for yourself.
Another brilliant feature is the on-site dog wash, which can be used independently of the field. Perfect if your pup has decided to roll in something questionable, found the muddiest patch available, or simply needs a good clean after an adventure — without having to bring all that mess home and sacrifice your bathroom! 😂🛁
Most importantly, the pups had an absolute blast! 🐕💨 They were thoroughly entertained, exercised and, ready for a nap — which is always a sign of a successful dog walk!
Foxholes Farm has clearly put a lot of effort into creating a purpose built space.
There are far too many thoughtful details to mention in one review, so my advice is simple:
Go and try it for yourself! 🐾
A fantastic new addition for local dog owners and walkers, and somewhere we’ll be visiting regularly.

🚨 THIS IS WHY I ASK THAT YOUR DOG DOESN’T HAVE A MEAL BEFORE ANY PLAYGROUP SESSIONS 🚨
One of the questions I’m asked quite often is:
“Why does your playgroup t&c's state my dog must not have a meal within an hour of your visit?” 🤔

There’s a very important reason — Gastric Dilatation-Volvulus (GDV), commonly known as bloat or a twisted stomach 😷

GDV is where the stomach becomes distended with gas, food or fluid and can then twist. This can restrict blood flow and affect other organs.
It can progress very quickly and requires immediate veterinary treatment.

🧐Some of the warning signs include:
• A swollen, tight or distended tummy
• Repeatedly trying to vomit or retch, but nothing (or very little) comes up
• Excessive drooling
• Restlessness, pacing or being unable to settle
• Panting or difficulty breathing
• Looking uncomfortable or repeatedly looking at their stomach
• Weakness, pale gums or collapse
⚠️ If you're worried, contact your vet or an emergency veterinary practice immediately.
💁🏼‍♀️ WHY CAN IT HAPPEN?
We dont know why, and unfortunately it can happen to any dog.
However, some dogs are more susceptible, particularly large and deep-chested breeds. Eating a large meal, eating quickly and exercising soon after eating are also considered potential risk factors.
And this is where my rule comes in…
🍽️ FOOD + EXERCISE = something I take seriously.
If a dog has just eaten, I don't want to immediately take them out, especially if they're going to be running, playing or getting very excited.
I can't eliminate the risk of GDV completely — but I can take precautions to reduce unnecessary risk while your dog is in my care 🐾
So when I ask you to make sure your dog hasn't had a meal within an hour of my visit, this is why.
It's not about making life difficult.
It's about doing everything reasonably possible to keep the dogs I look after safe, happy and healthy❤️
And hopefully, the next time you see that clause in my terms and conditions, you'll know exactly why it's there 😊
