It's common for a dog's behaviour to change as they age, but it's important to know what signs are of old age and what signs could be dementia.

Share this to spread awareness and keep pets happier and healthier for longer👇

🐾 Seeing the weekend in with this handsome lad!

Toby was diagnosed with glaucoma a few years back and unfortunately this meant he lost both of eyes. He still leads a very fulfilling life and is extremely happy, but due to being completely blind he relies on the help of his care givers and pawrents. It always amazes me how tenacious dogs can be and how they can bounce back even in the worst of situations, I think we could probably learn a thing or two from them!

Here at The Happy Pet Co. we tailor our services to meet your pets needs to ensure they get the best care whilst you’re away, there’s no job too big or small! If you need our help, please just give us a shout!

**********Beware***********
There have been reports in the Rugby area of dogs returning from walks and becoming unwell. It appears that some sick b******* have been leaving bread lying around which has been laced with what is thought to be drugs. Please be vigilant X

Please always do your due diligence when leaving your dog in someone else’s care, this story shows why it is so important 🥺💔

The most important factors to find out before selecting a boarder;

• Ask to see their insurance and license, take their unique licensing number and contact your local licensing authority to check this is legitimate, this is normally your local district or borough council.

• Check reviews and ask for references if necessary

• Visit their premises and check how your dog will be kept, if they have dogs staying with them, ask yourself if the dogs seem happy and well looked after

• Ask how many dogs they are licenced to board stipulated by their local council

I’ll add some additional questions you can ask in the comments section. Please do your research and protect your dogs, don’t feel like you have to go with the first boarder you visit.

Businesswoman Georgina Bodle turned a rented property in Drayton Bassett into a boarding kennel and breeding centre without a proper licence, with dogs kept in shocking conditions

⚠️Warning ⚠️

After Storm Bert, we have lots of standing water, and lots of the rivers and streams have burst.

Here's just our reminder of the disease Leptospirosis, that took the life of our boy Flint only 6 weeks ago, which can be caught from allowing your dogs to play in floodwater, or drink from puddles. Please keep them safe, on tge lead around the rivers, and walk them away from areas where the disease may be present.

We allowed him to play in this water, as we had done numerous times in the 8 years prior. It only took one tiny cut to the paw to let the bacteria in. If we had known better, or awaren ss had been spread more prior, we would have been much more cautious.

Be safe, and be aware.
We will always do what we can to raise awareness, in Flints memory. 💙

⚠️⚠️CANINE GASTROENTERITIS OUTBREAK WEST MIDLANDS⚠️⚠️

⚠️We have been made aware that there is Gastroenteritis sweeping the West Midlands area, particularly Coventry. This is a severe stomach bug with main symptoms being diarrhea, lethargic, not eating, vomitting.

⚠️To prevent your dog catching this, please avoid areas where many dogs will have been such as parks, vets, daycares and groomers. Be mindful of what your dog is sniffing and licking as Gastroenteritis is spread via urine, saliva and faeces.

⚠️Be aware of the consistency and frequency of your dogs poo 💩 A small amount of fresh bright red blood might be visible due to straining. If you suspect your dog may have gastroenteritis you will need to see a vet for probiotics and possibly IV fluids. Keep your dog at home to contain the spread. Wash hands thoroughly as well as anywhere they have been such as the car and home with disenfectant. Your dogs Toilet areas outdoors may also need sloshing down with disenfectant. Disenfect shoes that may have walked in areas that could be contaminated by other dogs.

⚠️Please be aware SOME strains of gastroenteritis can be zoonotic meaning they can spread between other species of animal including humans!

NB⚠️⚠️⚠️ WE WERE INFORMED BY A VETERINARY CENTRE WHO HAVE SEEN A HUGE WAVE OF CASES THIS WEEK! Not google.
