Meet Olive!
Olive is a 7 month old Spanish Water Dog and her owner has been bringing her gundog training since she was a puppy. She is now progressing through the Novice training and has been particularly good at retrieving right from the start.
The Spanish Water Dog is categorised as a “minority spaniel”, meaning it carries out the same type of work as a working spaniel, even though it isn’t actually a spaniel. The breed has a very distinctive curly coat, which doesn’t get combed or brushed, but is clipped a couple of times a year. As you can see, Olive looks completely different before and after her recent clip – I literally didn’t recognise her when I saw her for the first time with her new haircut! I’m looking forward to continuing to work with Olive and her owner in the coming months.
