Shepreth Wildlife Park

Shepreth Wildlife Park Discover a wide range of amazing animal species, go wild in the outdoor and indoor playing areas and relax in our café. South of Cambridge, UK.

www.sheprethwildlifepark.co.uk Shepreth Wildlife Park first started as a private sanctuary in 1979. Willers Mill Wild Animal Sanctuary was a refuge for creatures great and small, including rescued foxes, hedgehogs and badgers, alongside many different species of unlicensed exotics. After care and rehabilitation, many were released back into the wild, but when this was not possible, they lived out

their life at the sanctuary. Today, Shepreth Wildlife Park is home to the busy SWCC Hedgehog Hospital and also participates in national and international breeding programmes for endangered species. It remains as committed as ever to its animals, wildlife conservation and to educating the next generation of conservationists.

Happy International Lynx Day, Freddie! 🤎

Divided into four distinct species, the lynx is an apex predator found across the forests of Europe, Asia and North America. These wild cats play a vital role in balancing prey populations and supporting biodiversity.

While hunting and habitat loss are still major threats, successful conservation initiatives are turning things around. The Eurasian lynx has been successfully reintroduced to Europe through forest corridors and anti-poaching measures, while breeding and habitat restoration programs have rescued the Iberian lynx from the brink of extinction in Spain and Portugal.

Even though there are no lynx in our forests, supporting woodland conservation right here in the UK can help the many native species that need our protection!

The wait is over! The votes have been counted and the three capybara pups born in April finally have names! 🥁🥁🥁

Bellota's twins are Tostada ('piece of toast' in Spanish) and Burrito ('little donkey' in Spanish and also the delicious wrapped tortilla dish), while Pepita's boy is Queso ('cheese' in Spanish)!

Which name is your favourite? Let us know in the comments!
