🎆 In the lead up to firework season, it's a good idea to establish a pet den! Notice where your pet naturally chooses to retreat and make it comfortable and inviting.

Consider adding:

✅ Their favourite bed or comfortable blankets
✅ Familiar toys and blankets carrying familiar scents
✅ Water nearby so they don’t need to leave their safe space
✅ A favourite chew, treat or enrichment activity, if they want it

The aim is for this to become an established safe space well before fireworks begin. Here's a pet den our surgery team have created to help give you some inspiration!

Last but not least - the final pet dental health myth we're busting as part of this series. Check out our previous posts to see how many of the others you knew!

Myth #5: “Anaesthesia-free dental cleaning is safe and easy.”

❌ It may look simple, but it has significant limitations.

When a pet is awake, it isn't possible to safely and thoroughly examine every part of the mouth or assess areas below the gumline.

A proper veterinary dental procedure allows the team to:

🦷 Clean above and below the gumline
🦷 Take dental X-rays when needed

The penultimate myth to be busted in our pet dental health series!

Myth #4: “I feed my pet dry food, so that keeps their teeth clean.”

Another pet dental health myth buster! 👇

Myth #2: “All dogs have bad breath.”

❌ Definitely not!

That “doggy breath” smell isn’t something you should simply accept as normal. 😷 Persistent bad breath can be a sign of plaque, periodontal disease, infection or other oral problems.
