As temperatures rise, itโs important to take extra precautions to keep your dogs safe and comfortable.
๐พ What Dog Owners Should Do During a Heatwave
๐ง Provide Fresh Water
Ensure your dog always has access to cool, clean drinking water.

Limit outdoor activities and provide shaded areas when outside.

Walk at Cooler Times
Walk early in the morning or later in the evening when temperatures are lower.
๐พ Check the Ground
Hot pavements, artificial grass and sand can burn paws. If itโs too hot for your hand, itโs too hot for their feet.
๐ก Keep Your Home Cool
Provide good ventilation, cooling mats, fans, or damp towels for your dog to lie on.
๐ Never Leave Dogs in Cars
Even for a few minutes. Temperatures can rise dangerously fast and become life-threatening.

* Excessive panting
* Heavy drooling
* Bright red gums or tongue
* Rapid heartbeat
* Weakness or lethargy
* Vomiting or diarrhoea
* Confusion or unsteadiness

โ๏ธ Move your dog to a cool, shaded area

โ๏ธ Pour cool (not ice-cold) water over their body, especially their paws, tummy and neck
