Does your dog struggle to switch off?

If your dog is constantly on the go, pulls on the lead, jumps up, barks or does endless zoomies, they may be experiencing high levels of arousal rather than simply having "too much energy".

Try these simple tips:

✔️ Allow more sniffing and exploring on walks
✔️ Add mental enrichment such as food searches and scent games
✔️ Build in plenty of rest and downtime
✔️ Watch for early signs of overwhelm before things escalate

Remember, a calmer dog isn't always created through more exercise. Sometimes slowing things down is exactly what they need. 🐶

A tired dog isn't always a fulfilled dog.

Mental enrichment can be just as important as physical exercise. Activities like sniffing, searching, exploring and problem-solving help satisfy your dog's natural instincts and can lead to:

✔️ Calmer behaviour
✔️ Better focus
✔️ Less barking and overexcitement
✔️ Improved listening skills

Try these simple enrichment ideas:

🐶 Scatter food in the grass instead of using a bowl
🐶 Play "Find It" games around the house or garden
🐶 Create a treasure hunt with cardboard boxes and treats
🐶 Allow time for slow, sniffy walks

Sometimes slowing down and letting your dog use their nose is exactly what they need. 👃💚

Ever feel like you're being walked by your dog rather than walking with them?

Sore arms. Frustration. Constant pulling. Turning every walk into hard work.

The thing is... your dog isn’t pulling because they’re stubborn or "ignoring" you. Most dogs pull because it simply works for them, the world outside is wildly exciting, and loose lead walking is actually a skill that needs teaching.

The goal isn't a dog glued to your side.

The goal is calm, connected walks where your dog chooses to stay with you... a loose lead instead of a stretched one. Less stress. More enjoyable walks. Better communication between you both.

I've broken down why dogs pull (and it might not be what you think 👀) in my latest blog, plus where to start if you want to change it.

Dog training doesn't have to be a solo journey.

Behind every training walk is a group of like-minded dog owners all working towards the same thing... calmer walks, better communication, more confidence and dogs that choose connection over chaos.

No judgement. No pressure.

Just real people, real dogs, learning together and supporting each other along the way.

Sometimes seeing others go through the exact same struggles reminds you that you're not failing... you're training 💛

Our group training walks are designed to give you guidance in real life situations, around real distractions, with support every step of the way.
