PAWS The charity will be expanding its operation on a foster-basis only and currently all but 2 of the animals in our care are in foster homes.

UPDATE February 2025
Following a recent announcement by the Board of Trustees, the charity has restructured to reduce operating costs and a decision was made late Dec 2024 to sell the premises at Delph, Oldham following a spend of nearly £15,000 in planning costs. Two planning applications were submitted to Oldham Council and subsequently failed so the board felt they could not further invest funds in unsuccessful applications. We hope that by significantly reducing our overheads we can help more cats and dogs in the communities that we serve. We will continue to fundraise by means of events throughout the year and this will help cover the ongoing costs of veterinary care, food, fuel, vehicle maintenance, etc. We will be serving various communities across the Delph, Oldham, Rochdale, Todmorden, Halifax, Calder Valley and Burnley areas. PAWS has been a registered charity since 2014, and was originally founded in 2007. We rescue cats and dogs who are in need of a second chance of a forever home. We are feeling overpowered here at PAWS by the number of calls that we are receiving each day from concerned members of the public who wish to report stray and homeless cats that are in need and are living wild. We simply cannot take in all stray or feral cats as we do not have the resources. As is the case in all rescues currently, we are full and we need to find homes for the cats we have in foster at the moment. Please everyone Neuter your cats. This is vital to stop more unwanted litters of kittens, and to reduce straying and fighting. Vaccinate to protect them from the horrible diseases that are rife particularly in the stray cat population. You can help feral cats by providing shelter clean water and food. We can sometimes help with food for these cases.
Microchip your cats, as it is now the law and a chip can re-unite a lost cat with its owners quickly.
If you are thinking about getting a cat, please consider adoption. All our Cats are neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and treated for worms and fleas. Its all done for you. Please look at the lovely cats and kittens we have in foster currently. Other ways you can help us are by sharing our posts and supporting us in other ways such as helping at out events, or donating either money or items for our raffle and tombola stalls.

Harry passed away on the 16th September aged 17.
He had all the love that he could wish for with Ian. This is the story of how we at PAWS, and a group of friends saved this lovely, lovely boy.
Harry is an older Gent and his story is a very sad one.
His owner had passed away and no one knew for a while. Harry had been locked in the conservatory for three days without food or heating until he and his owner were discovered. Friends had tried and tried to find somewhere for Harry, contacting 32 Rescues, but due to large numbers of cats in rescue, his age and health concerns, nothing was found for him and he faced being PTS.
The PAWS Cat team took the call and it just so happened that a gentleman called Ian was waiting for an elderly cat to share his life with.❤️❤️ It was thought that he might be too old for what Ian was looking for, but he replied that he had a place in his home for him❤️❤️ The friends brought him over from Wakefield and this beautiful tuxedo boy walked out of his carrier into his new home.
*************************
Gilly and Ian with volunteer fosterers Ryan and Andrew raised and donated £1000 to PAWS for Harry, one of our long term foster cats. Thank you for your lovely write up Gilly. Harry was a very special boy.

Introducing Spud.
Spud is a Llaso Apso, aged just over 2 years, neutered and vaccinated. However, he has not had a good start due to aversive training methods which affected his behaviour and Spud was consequently due to be put to sleep. PAWS stepped in and has given him a second chance and thanks to the efforts of Lorraine from Pups & Pooches, he has shown tremendous progress in the past few months.
Do you think you may have what it takes to offer this little guy a home either on a foster basis or adoption. Please go to our website where there is more info and details on how to apply. If you have any questions please get in touch. This little boy just wants the life he deserves.
