A message i will continue sharing until my last ever day of dog grooming!

I see many young and older dogs with unnecessary and uncomfortable matting due to their coats not being properly brushed regularly at home in between grooms. Sometimes it’s education, sometimes it’s lack of time and others it’s just not a priority. This isn’t a judgment, it’s simply what I see, and I understand!

I’m not talking about a tangle here and there, a few friction knots are bound to occur if your dog goes in water and is towel dried at home, these are manageable as they can be loosened and brushed, I’m talking skin deep, rock hard matting which has to be shaved off.

However, owners don’t see the difficult and sad groom their dog has had to endure because of the matting, they just see a nice, clean, short cut which usually they like which unfortunately then isn’t much of a consequence!

Regular, consistent brushing all over your dogs coat (ALL OVER! Inc tail, legs, feet and ears!) with a good quality comb or brush, especially if curly, is imperative to keeping them matt and tangle free but most importantly, happy and comfortable!
