Apparently this is what becoming Best Puppy in Breed looks like… 🐻🏆

A bit of showing off with Dad, a lovely win, several spectacular failures to catch flying sausage… and home in time for a small disagreement with Claude the ancient Frog Dog. 🐸🌭

Nearly 15 years old and he STILL gives as good as he gets.

Dad says I need to work on my sausage catching.

Claude says I need to work on my attitude.

I say they both need to mind their business.

Not a bad Sunday. 😂

🐾 THE BEAR NECESSITIES
The World According to Bear……….Lads’ Day Out 🐻

Bear here again ! This weekend was another show day, except this time Mum and the small humans were staying home, so it was just me and Dad. Two men, one van, my trusty octopus side kick, Sir Tentacles 🐙, and enough chopped sausage to keep a small German market running for the weekend.

Andddd I have some information. Dad sang The Bare Necessities in the van. 🎵

OUT LOUD!

He’ll deny it, obviously. But unfortunately for him, there may only have been the two of us there and only one of us has access to the Pride of Bully page.

Awkward! 😬

Anywho, We arrived and discovered Bulldogs were third in the ring behind the Bull Terriers. Now, I live with Jasper and Jinx, two random Cockers who spend approximately 90% of their waking hours making unnecessary noise, so I thought I knew chaos but it seems I did not !

I absolutely did not.

Have you HEARD a gathering of Bull Terriers?! hell s Bells lads, Even I was impressed!

I was going to make a comment, but then I spotted Uncle Dinu nearby. Uncle Dinu is a vet and, whilst he’s always been very nice to my dad, I am aware that men in his profession occasionally remove a gentleman’s Bear Necessities. ✂️🐻 (interestingly dad says it’s mum that holds his necessities in an iron clamp wonder if uncle Dinu was his vet ?) 💭

So I’d just like to put on record that Bull Terriers are delightful, beautifully behaved and I heard absolutely nothing. Good Morning, Uncle Dinu. Lovely to see you at the weekend …..

Moving swiftly on.

Eventually it was Bulldog time. Dad got the sausages out, I had a quick word with the octopus Mr Tentacles and we went to work under our breed judge, Mr David Bell.

I won 1st Puppy Dog. Lovely. Sausage.

Then Best Male Puppy. Even lovelier. 2 sausages as per the sausage contract.

And then…

🏆 BEST PUPPY IN BREED 🏆

Dad was absolutely made up. Forgot my sausages until I was back in my bedroom !! Rude !

I still don’t fully understand the system. I stand on a table, a nice person looks at me, I trot around with Dad, then we all stand around trying to look casual while Dad’s nerves travel directly down the lead into my neck.

Then someone points at me, Dad looks ridiculously happy and I receive sausages ..?? As far as I’m concerned, the entire British dog show system is an unnecessarily complicated method of distributing cooked meat.

Still, I’m enjoying it. 🌭

Dad has also decided that, as a sophisticated show dog, I should learn to catch my sausage. Another complicated way of feeding us ? What is the problem with just eating from a bowl 🙄

This training is not going well.

He throws it.

I open my mouth.

It hits me between the eyes.

I stare at Dad.

Sausage hits the floor.

I eat it.

Dad says I’ve failed… we must try again.

I say the sausage has successfully entered the Bear, therefore the exercise has achieved its intended outcome.

We’ve agreed to disagree.

To be fair, he tried it with the Poodles too and they couldn’t catch one either.

So much for the second most intelligent dog breed.

Monkey just watched his piece hit the floor and ate it like a normal person. For once, Monkey and I are completely aligned.

A huge thank you to our breed judge Mr David Bell for thinking so highly of me and awarding me Best Puppy in Breed. We’re incredibly grateful. Dad for the rosettes me for the sausage tax ❤️

Congratulations to all the other winners too. Another brilliant day out with Dad, another adventure for my octopus Mr 🐙 Tentacles and apparently another rather special day for this little Care Bear.

Although I think Dad’s favourite part was the winning, Mine was obviously the sausages…
And hearing a grown man quietly singing “look for the bare necessities…” to himself somewhere down the motorway at stupid o’clock in the morning.

Your secret’s safe with me, Dad.

And my Facebook.

Until next time,

Bear x 🐾

Pride of Bully Bulldogs

P.S. Dad says we’re practising sausage catching again.

I’m not sure why.

Throw it directly into my mouth, Dad. You’re the one with opposable thumbs. Sort yourself out and aim better … or worse ? I don’t care I get the sausage anyway!

🐾 THE BEAR NECESSITIES
The World According to Bear — Identity Crisis

Apparently Dad and I have got “work” tomorrow.

So today I’ve been concentrating on my fitness.

Personal trainer: Claude.

Claude is a French Bulldog.

He’s also nearly 15 years old.

You’d think this would make our training sessions quite gentle.

You would be wrong.

The ancient frog still has HANDS. 🥊🐸

Mum keeps telling me to “leave the old man alone”.

What Mum doesn’t seem to appreciate is that approximately 50% of the time THE OLD MAN STARTED IT.

He gives as good as he gets, then pulls the pensioner card when management appears.

Absolute stitch-up.

Still, Dad says a show Bulldog needs to be fit, move well and have enough stamina to trot around the ring without looking like he’s just run a marathon.

So I’m counting today’s activities as conditioning.

Three rounds with Claude. ✔️
Zoomies through the kitchen. ✔️
Chased Monkey the Poodle. ✔️
Was chased BY Monkey the Poodle. ✔️
Investigated whatever Jinx the random Cocker was doing. ✔️
Helped my small humans with absolutely nothing. ✔️

I sometimes wonder if I’m actually being raised as a Bulldog at all.

I live with Poodles.

My best sparring partner is a geriatric French frog.

There’s a Cocker here who appears to have wandered in one day and simply never left.

And my favourite people are small humans who let me join in with everything they do.

Then every so often Dad puts a posh lead on me and expects me to suddenly remember…

Oh yeah. I’m a SHOW Bulldog.

Quite a good one too, apparently. 😉

But that’s tomorrow’s Bear.

Tonight’s Bear has important work to finish.

ROUND FOUR, CLAUDE. 🥊🐸

Bear x 🐾

Pride of Bully Bulldogs

P.S. Please don’t call this bullying the elderly.

I’ve got video evidence he fights back AND he also 💩 in the kitchen !

Completely over the moon and the stars with our young man, an absolute pleasure to live with and beyond his years (or months ! ) in the show ring … so excited for what’s to come for him ❤️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️❤️

DRIFFIELD CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW - THAT escalated…..

It all started when Dad woke me up at 5AM. I’ve considered reporting him. These early mornings are interrupting my snoring time.

We all hopped in the van & the littlest human was deposited at Grandad’s. Apparently, spending all day at a dog show is “boring” and Grandad with Auntie Sarah as support act, were a considerably better offer.

Rude.

Luckily, Bella stayed to keep me company. She’s my favourite small human. Off we all went to do what I think is humans favourite thing? Stand around looking at dogs.

I don’t mind these show things, actually.

The smells are INCREDIBLE.

Dogs dogs and more dogs everywhere. I discovered something rather shocking…There are OTHER POODLES out there !! 🐩

I genuinely thought they just lived at our house, put on this earth to drive dad bonkers as he says ..

But these poodles were very different.

They were all fluffy and fancy and prancey. They sort of GLIDED past me with their fancy hair puffed up, looking like their feet didn’t actually touch the floor.

I just stared. Then I thought about Monkey at home.

To me, Monkey looks less “elegant show Poodle” and more back-street hard nut who’s been barred from three pubs and knows a bloke who can get you a telly.

Same breed, apparently! Who knew ? I’m going to need some time to process this. So I kept standing still to watch - Anyway, Dad said we weren’t there to critique the Poodles. We had work to do.

First up: I was in Junior Dog, under the pretty cool Mr Paul Harding. He had someone else with him today learning too, tried to decide between the two of them who was liking me best but I was distracted by the contract. Must not falter from the agreement….

So I stood.

I trotted around like dads shown me,

I checked in with Dad every few seconds to make sure the sausage contract was still active… It was !!

🌭

1st in the Junior Dog class ! 🥇

Excellent.

2 Sausages!

Few mins later, I was distracted by a happy fluffy in a high up crate but Dad took me away, back in with the grown-up winning big boys. Bit ambitious, I thought. But I does as I’m told. (Except when it comes to 💩 in the kitchen .. I mean I might shrivel in the rain ! ? )

Me and dad we stood again.

Then we Trotted again, and again … And then, dads arm went wobbly, Mr Harding pointed at…

ME!!!!!!!!

🏆 DOG CC ! Apparently, this is A VERY BIG DEAL.

Dad’s face went all funny. Think it might have started as a smile but might have actually been wind?

Mum nearly combusted. Bella was beside herself saying good boy good boy over and over ..

I was just waiting patiently for another sausage if I’m honest I don’t see the fuss? Everyone has different priorities I guess.

A little break and a shared ice cream, then I went into Puppy Stakes under judge Mr Steven Atkinson…

…and I only won that too apparently . 🥇

I came home with all manner of rosettes and cards saying -

🏆 DOG CC
🥇 1st Junior Dog
🥇 1st Puppy Stakes

Not bad for a little Bear?

We stayed behind to watch the Utility Group because our Best of Breed-winning Bulldog lady was representing us. Apparently she beat us but I didn’t really mind; she smelt good 😊

I watched her. Very pretty. Very sophisticated.

I think she looked at me!

Dad says she didn’t… Dad doesn’t know everything.

By then, though, my batteries were flat. I’m only a puppy and it’s a long day, yapped from my crate to inform management that the CC-winning Bulldog over here required some attention.

Ignored, So I escalated. That worked ! Bella sat on the floor so I climbed onto her knee.

Problem solved.

Apparently I’m one of the big boys now but I Still need my Bella when I’m tired. ❤️

A huge thank you to our breed judge, Mr Paul Harding, for awarding me 1st Junior Dog and the Dog CC, and to Mr Steven Atkinson for awarding me 1st in a lovely Puppy Stakes class.

Congratulations to all other winners too, especially our beautiful Best of Breed who represented us so well. Ahem I’m available!?

Dad says I’m not. We’ll revisit that when I’m bigger eh?

Until next time,

Bear x 🐾

P.S. pssstt !! Monkey…

We need to have a conversation about what the other Poodles are doing!! Because, mate…

you’re seriously letting the side down!!

25/08/2026

Well… apparently I was supposed to be at a dog show yesterday.

I knew something suspicious was happening when I got BATHED. I really dislike that bath.

Dad had packed the van, organised the small humans and the other canine residents, made packed lunches and got my show bag ready. I know because I tried to pull it off the side when I smelled the said packed lunches.

Apparently that wasn’t a thing 🤷‍♂️

Dad had even got up at silly o’clock ready to drive us to Wales to spend the day looking at Bulldogs with me.

Then, as he was dragging me off my bed for the SECOND time, come on Dad, it was practically still nighttime, our sitter messaged to say she was poorly and couldn’t come 😢

Apparently you can’t leave small humans and a pack containing an ancient frog dog to fend for themselves for 12 hours. 🐿️ Who knew that ?

Dad was gutted. I tried to kiss him a lot and he snuggled me tight and said, “Well, that’s that. it’s not our day today, boy.”

I know HE thinks I’m a very good boy, so I wasn’t too worried!?

I think a few other people reckon I’m alright too. I’ve had a pic with a few of the judges, and even Auntie George said so yesterday after I launched myself up her legs and nearly knocked her over. I was only saying hello?!

Apparently several kilos of enthusiastic Bulldog coming at you is “a bit much”. Didn’t stop me trying again before she left.

🐿️ Humans are very delicate aren’t they?

I DO love my show days with Dad though. I see my Bulldog mates, play with the octopus I’m only allowed at shows and get praised for standing on tables, which, confusingly, is frowned upon at home.

Then I trot around looking important while Dad pretends he isn’t nervous.

He forgets the wobble travels straight down my lead.

I got ya, Dad. 😉

Anyway, I think I know where yesterday went wrong…

We have a show day tradition you see. My little people send us off with Alexa playing The Bare Necessities, while everyone dances around the kitchen.

Yes, because I’m Bear. Cliché, I know.

But when you live with a Monkey 🐩 and a Panda 🐶, you work with what you’ve got?

Mum was away this weekend, it was 4am and Dad DIDN’T PLAY THE SONG. Rookie error, Dad. Rookie error.

We were obviously Jinx’d from the start, and I don’t mean the Cocker that nicks my toys.

Still, staying home wasn’t all bad. My little people were here. ❤️
Claude the ancient frog dog needed annoying.
Monkey hadn’t been sufficiently harassed.
And there were suddenly surplus packed lunches.

So I called it a draw!?

Dad says we missed an opportunity to make points? Maybe they’re like sausages to him? 🐿️ I’d rather stick with sausages myself!

Maybe we’d have won yesterday ? Maybe we’d have come home with nothing…That’s showing dogs apparently but you’ve got to be in it to win it they say.

So I guess we’ll try again? Dad will get up at silly o’clock. He’ll pack enough stuff for a military operation. Mum will wonder why one Bulldog requires half the contents of the house…

And Alexa WILL play The Bare Necessities.

We’re not making that mistake twice dad!

Dad can hold my lead, pretend he’s not nervous and hope the judge sees what he sees. And I’ll do my best for him like I always do

Because I’m Bear.

I’m his good boy.

And we’re only just getting started. 🐾

Until next time,

P.S. Don’t forget, guys…

Bears don’t just sh*t in the woods.

A little note from us this morning…Unfortunately, despite all the preparation, Bear and Steve haven’t made it to the Welsh champ show today.

The van was fuelled, Bear was bathed and looking in our option his handsome best 😍, packed lunches were made, bags were packed and the alarm had gone off at an hour that really shouldn’t exist on a Sunday.

Unfortunately, our carefully arranged plans with our dog & child sitter fell apart when she became unwell suddenly just as Steve was due to leave and, with our pack at home, there simply wasn’t another option at 4 am so with get will wishes sent We’re absolutely gutted 😞 but sometimes life outside the show ring has other ideas.

We’d like to wish everyone exhibiting today the very best of luck. Have a fantastic day, enjoy your dogs and hopefully bring home something lovely.

And our sincere apologies to today’s judge for Bear’s absence from his class. We never enter a show lightly and always fully intend to honour our entry.

Today just wasn’t meant to be ours.

Good luck everyone. We’ll see you around the ring very soon we’ve a Top Puppy to chase 😉 ❤️

Sorry for the delay in posting these results from last week — I went straight back into work as soon as I got home from the shows & then school holidays, dogs and the girls pony … where on earth does time go ?! 🙈

We’ve had some amazing results over the last couple of shows and I couldn’t be more pleased with my young boy. He’s a character to live with and as a family we just adore him ! ❤️ we’ve put some miles in already him & and I it’s great to get the buzz back a little bit 🤏
