Today is National Tourette’s Awareness Day 💙

You might be wondering what this has to do with dogs… 🤨 bare with me.

In December 2025, after a long five-year journey, my daughter Mia was diagnosed with Tourette syndrome. Her Tourette’s presents through both motor and vocal tics, including echopraxia (copying movements).

Over the past few months, Hector has started to recognise when Mia is having tic episodes and will quietly sit, stand, or stay close to her until they pass. On weekends and during half terms, Mia sometimes joins me on my dog walks with your amazing dogs—and they’ve shown the same calm awareness and support.

Poppy, for example, will not leave Mia’s side from the moment she arrives until she’s safely back home 💕

Your dogs have helped Mia massively—not only in managing her tics, but also in getting her out, active, and more confident. I can’t thank you all enough for trusting me to care for them.

With that said, on August 15th I’ll be running my first ever 10K at Blackpool Run the Lights in support of Tourettes Action. They’ve helped me understand Mia’s condition so I can better support her and adapt to her needs throughout this journey.

I’d love to raise as much as possible so more children like Mia can better understand their diagnosis, feel less alone, and help spread awareness of a condition that is still widely misunderstood.

If you’re able to donate please click the link below, I’d be incredibly grateful. Thank you for reading 💙

Appreciation Post for Luna ❤️ one of HWH OGs

I absolutely adore this lady! She’s been with me right from the start. She’s seen me fail and she’s seen me succeed throughout the process. We have such a bond, she’s even protective at times. I wouldn’t be without her. She’s absolutely bonkers but all the best ones are! ( It’s why I take on all the bonkers ones) 😂

We had a lovely stroll today! We enjoy rainy days because no one else (or dog) is around and we can both fully relax.

Love you lots Loopy Luna 😊

Oh Rio your so beautiful 😍

☀️ Warm Weather Enrichment Ideas ☀️

During warmer weather, many dogs benefit far more from calm enrichment and mental stimulation than long walks or high-energy exercise. 🐾

Enrichment can help reduce frustration, encourage natural behaviours, support emotional wellbeing, and provide appropriate stimulation without placing additional physical strain on dogs during hotter conditions.

Some simple warm weather enrichment ideas include:

🐾 Frozen lick mats
🐾 Stuffed Kongs or enrichment toys
🐾 Scatter feeding in shaded areas
🐾 Snuffle mats and scent work
🐾 Frozen fruit treats suitable for dogs
🐾 Paddling pools or supervised water play
🐾 Calm chew activities
🐾 Cardboard shredding and problem-solving games
🐾 Short training sessions using reward-based methods
🐾 Allowing dogs time to rest and decompress

Not every dog enjoys or copes with heat in the same way. Puppies, elderly dogs, flat-faced breeds, anxious dogs, double coated breeds, and dogs with underlying health conditions may struggle more quickly in warmer temperatures.

Sometimes slowing things down, reducing expectations, and focusing on calm welfare-led activities can be one of the kindest things we do for our dogs. 🤍

If your dog appears unwell, distressed, excessively lethargic, or shows signs of overheating, veterinary advice should always be sought.

Stay safe and keep your dogs cool this week ☀️🐾

Happy Bank Holiday ☀️😎

Just a quick message regarding the weather this week ☀️

Where possible, walks will be moved to earlier times, with home visits taking place during peak heat hours to keep all dogs safe and comfortable. Their welfare will always be my main priority during warmer weather.

I also wanted to let you know that I’m currently experiencing some vertigo attacks, so I may be moving a little slower than usual and staying closer to home where possible. I apologise for any inconvenience caused, but as always I will continue to provide the best care and service possible for your dogs 🐾

Thank you for your understanding
