Here comes the annual kennel cough post…
🐾 KENNEL COUGH 🐾
Just a little reminder, you are not required by me to have the kennel cough vaccine, it does not stop your dog catching the virus but it may help with the symptoms.
💉 Nasal Kennel Cough Vaccine – If your dog has this, please let me know! As a precaution, I won’t walk them for 10 days afterwards as it is a live vaccine and can shed the virus.
💉 Injectable Kennel Cough Vaccine – Some vets offer a non-live alternative that doesn’t shed live vaccine bacteria, meaning your dog can continue walks as normal!
❤️ Why am I so cautious?
I look after lots of different dogs, including puppies, elderly dogs and those with health problems. Kennel cough spreads like wildfire and can be much more serious for our more vulnerable doggies!
Also from a business point of view, it’s important that I keep any outbreaks contained. Dogs with kennel cough cannot attend walks as it’s highly contagious, and they need plenty of rest to recover. Once it starts spreading between dogs, it can quickly turn into no work at all for weeks.
🐶 If you notice your dog coughing, please let me know.
Thank you for understanding and helping me keep all my lovely dogs safe! 🐾❤️
