We have specialists in the fields of cardiology, dermatology, internal medicine, oncology, orthopaedics, neurology, diagnostic imaging, spinal surgery, soft tissue surgery & physiotherapy. A31 Closure - Important Travel Information (Overnight)

If you are travelling to the hospital out of hours between 1/9 and 12/9, please be aware that the A31 will be closed Monday to Friday from 9:00 pm to 6:00 am.

The closure affects both directions between Ashley Heath and M27 Junction 2, including Stoney Cross.

Please allow extra time for your journey and follow the signed diversion routes.

BVA Eye Testing Clinics at SCVS

We are delighted to announce the launch of BVA Eye Testing clinics here at SCVS.

Our first clinic will take place on 6th October 2026. If you are interested in finding out more or would like to secure a place, please contact our team today.

Our clinics will be led by Helen Appleboam, who graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2001 and went on to complete the RCVS Certificate in Veterinary Ophthalmology in 2011. Helen holds RCVS Advanced Practitioner status in Veterinary Ophthalmology and joined the BVA Canine Eye Scheme Panel in 2023.

For these clinics, a referral from your first-opinion veterinary practice is not required.

We look forward to supporting breeders and their dogs through this valuable service and welcoming you to SCVS.

Years Pet Food Recall – Eye Health Advice

Years has issued a voluntary recall of all its fresh dog-food diets following reports of dogs developing keratoconjunctivitis sicca (KCS), commonly known as dry eye.

If your dog has been fed Years food, please stop feeding it immediately and contact your primary care veterinary practice promptly if you notice:
• Red or irritated eyes
• Squinting or signs of eye discomfort
• Rubbing or pawing at the eyes
• Increased discharge, particularly thick or sticky discharge
• Eyes appearing dry, dull, cloudy or less shiny than usual

Your vet can examine your dog and perform a Schirmer tear test to measure tear production. If dry eye is identified or there are any concerns about the health of your dog’s eyes, our Ophthalmology Service is here to help. We would be very happy to assess your dog and support you through their diagnosis and treatment. Early assessment and treatment are important to help protect the eyes and reduce the risk of further complications.

You can feel reassured that your pet is in the best hands when they’re cared for by our experienced rehabilitation team.

Many of our clients are actually sad when their pet completes their rehabilitation programme — not only because they’ve enjoyed seeing their progress, but because both they and their pets have enjoyed the journey so much!
