1 week on, our our Salsa & wee Mole are having an absolute blast. Two very happy wee souls, always busy 🐁💗
11 months on & our elder gents are finally starting to become proper wee gerbils ❤ They both come out at the same time & I got the first ever picture of them both together 🎉 They had a blueberry for a treat for the first time, usually they'd only eat sunflower or pumpkin seeds for treats. They've also realised that after 11 months with us, that their flower & leaf forage plate, is actually worth searching through. It's sad that they really didn't know how to be proper wee gerbils but the right enclosure with the right substrate, lots of time & patience, they are flourishing ❤ Hopefully with all the extra activities, we can get a bit of weight off them, they have been quite sedentary but finally coming to life (think a couple of little ladies have sparked a wee extra light in them too 🤣)
Please if you ever have the pleasure of having these gorgeous wee souls in your life (or any other animal), research welfare standards & costs involved, before taking on the responsibility. Each pairs enclosure, topper & content has cost close to £400, to meet welfare standards & provide endless enrichment & exercise opportunities. We'll post more pictures of their set ups very soon, once we get the girls topper all ready for them (it needs modification, as it was made too big to fit their enclosure, not great after the boys topper being made too small & i had to fix that. We won't be buying from that supplier again, as they aren't cheap 😪). Big chain Pet shops DO NOT sell enclosures that meet minimum welfare standards for small furries, guinea pigs, rabbits etc. Please research ❤
2 wee ones rescued from Free on Facebook & risk of becoming snake food or the rest of their life in an inappropriate cage.
2 wee ones adopted from The Underheugh Ark Rescue, a result of incorrect sexing by a large chain pet store. A serious welfare issue.
