🐾 June is National Microchipping Month 🐾
Microchipping is one of the simplest and most effective ways to help reunite lost pets with their owners. The microchip contains a unique identification number that can be read by a scanner, allowing veterinary practices, rescue centres and local authorities to access your contact details and get in touch if your pet is found.
In the UK, all dogs must be microchipped and registered by 8 weeks of age, and in England, all pet cats (including indoor-only cats) must be microchipped and registered by 20 weeks of age. Owners can face a fine of up to £500 if their pet is not microchipped when required.
National Microchipping Month also serves as an important reminder to check that your contact details are up to date on your pet’s microchip database. If you've recently moved house or changed your phone number, now is the perfect time to make sure your information is correct.
A microchip is only as effective as the information attached to it!
