When a normal result is just as valuable as an abnormal one - feline case study.

A 15-year-old cat with a history of inflammatory bowel disease presented with intermittent anorexia, abdominal discomfort, vomiting, and poor appetite.

With previous biopsies confirming mild eosinophilic enteritis, an IBD flare was high on the list of differential diagnoses. But after routine blood work came back unremarkable, GIQuest revealed no evidence of gastrointestinal inflammation.

This simple result helped rule out an IBD flare, allowing the clinician to focus on other likely causes. Treatment was directed towards suspected hairball obstruction, and the cat began eating within hours, passing a large hair-filled stool two days later.

Sometimes the most useful answer isn't confirming what you suspect, it's helping you confidently rule it out.

New survey reveals the growing impact of owner factors on clinical decision-making

A one of our recent surveys of veterinary professionals, we found that 98.2% say owner factors influence how they manage chronic GI cases, highlighting the increasing role of contextualised care in practice.

The findings also revealed concerns around missed subclinical inflammation, challenges with diet trial compliance, and a strong demand for practical monitoring tools.
