A very special goodbye… for now!

Today we’re wishing our lovely vet, Emily a very happy maternity leave!

After looking after so many of our wonderful patients and their families in Camborne, Emily is taking some well-deserved time away to embark on her most exciting adventure yet — becoming a mum! We’re going to miss her enormously, but we couldn’t be happier for her and wish her and her family all the best!

And at the same time, we’re delighted to introduce you to Jack!

He will be joining our veterinary team during Emily’s maternity leave and will be taking great care of our patients in her absence. We’re thrilled to have him on board, some of you may have already met him as he’s been with us for a few weeks now; he’s certainly got Bruce’s seal of approval!

So, while we say “see you soon” to Emily, we’re excited to welcome Jack to the practice!

Safe to say, we love dogs… 🐶❤️
And today, on International Dog Day, we’re celebrating all the wonderful dogs who bring so much joy, laughter and love into our lives.

From the energetic puppies discovering the world, to our golden oldies who have been by your side for years, every dog is special — and we feel incredibly lucky to care for them. 🐾

Thank you to all the wonderful dog owners who trust us with their four-legged family members. We love seeing their wagging tails, cheeky faces and (usually!) enthusiastic greetings when they visit us.

Ticks are having a field day across Cornwall right now!🌿

​Our teams at Monument Redruth, Monument Camborne, and St Ives have seen a massive spike in these creepy-crawlies coming through the doors lately. They are lurking in tall grass, woodland floors and coastal paths, just waiting to hitch a ride on our four-legged friends.

​Just ask Albus—the handsome chap in photo one whose curly coat is basically a tick magnet. The second photo shows a live one we managed to comb out of his fur before it managed to sink its mouthparts in.

​Quick refresher for your walks:

• Check coats thoroughly: A pat down won't cut it; part the fur and check the head, neck, and tummy zones after every outing.

• Got a wriggler? If you spot one crawling in the coat before it's attached, lift it right out.

• Safe removal: If a tick has latched on, the best method is using a tick hook. Slide it under the tick and gently twist (rather than pull) to ensure the mouthparts come out clean without leaving anything behind.

Need a hand? If you're not sure how to deal with it or feel uneasy doing it yourself, please give us a call. Our nursing team are always happy to give advice or to assist in removing them safely!

What have you been up to this weekend? Abi and Eleanor could be found down West at the St Buryan Rally this Saturday and Sunday! Eleanor had a great time judging the dog show yesterday, so many lovely doggies and so hard to choose the winners, well done to all who took part! We’re here again today so pop by and say hi!

Before you meet little Zephie, you'd never know how much of a fighter she is!

This gorgeous kitten (those eyes 😍) recently came to us feeling very poorly and was diagnosed with an intussusception – a serious condition where part of the intestine telescopes into itself, causing a blockage. Without prompt treatment, it can quickly become life-threatening.

Our branch partner and vet, Abi performed surgery to correct the problem, and we're delighted to say that she has come through brilliantly. After plenty of TLC, cuddles, and careful monitoring, she's now on the road to recovery and getting back to doing what kittens do best – eating, playing, and causing mischief!

We're so proud of this brave little patient and grateful to her owners for acting quickly when they noticed she wasn't herself.

If your pet is ever showing signs such as vomiting, lethargy, abdominal pain, or loss of appetite, don't hesitate to get in touch with your vet. Early intervention can make all the difference.

We have had a young pale ginger and white neutered male, medium haired, very friendly, transferred to us at Monument Redruth by CVETS this morning, a member of the public took him to CVETs last night as they were concerned he'd been involved in a road accident, luckily no injuries have been found.

Unfortunately his microchip has not been registered so we are unable to contact his owner.
