What a SHIFT in this horse’s mentality!!

I’ve now had Star for 3 months, 2 of those were spent rehabbing her with physio and groundwork and for a while I didn’t think I’d be able to get a saddle on let alone ride her and now look where we arešŸ˜

She’s put on so much muscle and weight overall, her top line and neck have practically doubled in size and the best thing is that she now willingly works over her back, even offering an outline when she can!

I’m going to be desperately upset when I have to put her up for sale especially as she has a lot of promise and is so wonderfully genuine, but for now I’m going to make the most of building her up physically and then I’m definitely taking her out competing because how can I not?!

3 large fields to roam around, left the gate open as my house is in the first field and I hate having to open and close it.

They immediately make their way around to come and eat on the driveway… at least I haven’t got far to fetch them inšŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

Hello again!

We’re back in business after 4 weeks off, no don’t worry a client or their horse didn’t bury me🤣I had an elective surgery that came around quicker than expected to have a plate removed from my collar bone, it’s been a pain in my shoulder for the last two years and I’m so glad it’s gone!

Since I’ve been back I’ve had the pleasure of yard sitting for the lovely Phoebe who came to me through a recommendation! Her dogs Teddy and Bunny were a riot with my pup Aesha, and trying to keep her lovely cob Magpie away from the older gents Miggs and Sunny’s feeds was probably the most intense part of the weekšŸ˜‚

Always an honour to be trusted with looking after people’s homes and pets while they are away enjoying their holidaysšŸ–ļø

Alyssa🤩

This gorgeous Friesian mare has made some whopping progress in just three rides!

The first time I met her she’d been at the yard only three weeks, it was incredibly windy, she had no mouth and she was napping back to her field!

Next time we put a hackamore on to avoid her associating being ridden with running through the bridle every time and she immediately relaxed and the napping lessened too.

She’s even given me a few stretches out and some nice leg yields!

She is having a break for a couple weeks as I am currently not in a fit state to rideā€¦šŸ˜…šŸ¤•

Spent yesterday wrapping and bale carting!

Most of my time is spent on the farm and helping other farms out, the horsey side is currently squished in when I have time as often as I can, so when I get new clients during the busiest time of the farming year they get even more squished and moved around especially when rain is imminent and wrapping needs to be finished before it’s even started!

I thoroughly enjoy both sides of the business and am incredibly grateful that this is my way of life, thank you to my wonderful friends and family and even more to my clientsšŸ˜‡you’re the best!

Two new additions to the team🤩

Introducing Star and Aesha!
I made a post two weeks ago about the lovely Star who I was putting some work into for her owner as they were trying to sell her but needed an extra pair of hands to encourage and bring out the best side of her.

She’s lovely off the leg and has some really smooth paces, the muscle memory is all there clear as day, she just needed some time to understand aids and figure out what was being asked of her again. She’s got some potential hidden under the bonnet so I just had to have her!

Aesha on the other hand is my new 3 month old Border Collie puppy who everyone has fallen in love with immediately, she’s from Hannah who has happily swapped Aesha for one of our Maremma puppies!🄹 I think this little one is going to become my shadow everywhere I go now, can’t complain much!

My story

Part llll

I then rode as a conditional jockey for a bit, unfortunately it wasn’t for me and I soon realised I missed home, my family and the farm too much so I hung up my boots and went self employed!

I spent the next year scattered about riding and grooming for a few yards, I did a course on natural horsemanship and also got some work for other farms mostly helping Pasture For Life beef farmers!

I’ve also spent a lot of money on my own two boys, Frankie and Vince who I’ve dedicated my life to - they both have kissing spine which I have steroids injected into them for this annually. Realising the pain they were in was a huge turning point in how I view horses and approach their training, I now have a better understanding of how they show and deal with pain and pain memory, stress and learning.

This brings us up to today where I am opening up to new clients to help them understand why their horse is acting up, how to work with them rather than against them and how to work towards that next level! I will be documenting my own horses’ and clients’ horses journeys on this account to show off their progress🩷
