Temporary closure update

As many of you will know we have been without a lead vet for a few months after Jelena left and unfortunately we have not been able to recruit a new vet to replace her.

Across the region and the industry, there is a shortage of vets & nurse and the difficult decision has been made to shut the branch in the interim. In the mean time our Reading and Lower Early branches will there to provide patient care on our behalf and our 24 hour centre in Wokingham in an event of an emergency.

We realise this may be inconvenient and the decision to close has not been made lightly. If you require anything whilst we are closed please contact:

Medivet Reading on 01189 871693 for appointments or
Medivet Wokingham on 01189 790551 in the event of an emergency

We will continue to monitor our emails and will keep all our clients updated via email.

We thank you for your understanding and continued support during this difficult time.

COVID UPDATE – Monday 19th July

We’d like to advise clients that we’ll continue to operate contactless appointments. We recognise that this isn’t what many of you were hoping for, but it’s for the very best of reasons – we want to stay open and be available to care for your pets.

We hope you understand our reasons:
*Covid cases are on the increase, as are isolation requirements for close contacts. If a member of the team contracts Covid or needs to isolate, it will likely affect others and we will not have enough staff to safely open the practice or at the very least our service will be severely disrupted.
*We have vulnerable team members and also some that aren’t fully vaccinated – they’re key members of the team – without them we’ll struggle.
*The risk of infection is increased inside and particularly in the practice where there is limited space for social distancing and not all areas are well ventilated.

Please continue to wear a mask (unless you’re exempt) and we will continue to wear PPE to keep everybody protected. We will review the situation when/if there are changes to the isolation rules and the rate of infection decreases.

We’re all looking forward to welcoming our lovely clients back in and getting back to business as usual. As a team we’re working extremely hard to keep things running smoothly and your understanding and courtesy go a long way in keeping us motivated to carry on.

Finally, please be assured that we’re taking very good care of your pets inside the practice (lots of extra cuddles and a few treats).

Please stay safe.

⭐️⭐️⭐️IMPORTANT NOTICE⭐️⭐️⭐️

During these unprecedented times during the last year or so, we wanted to thank our clients for supporting the hardworking and dedicated teams at Medivets Tilehurst, Reading, Lower Earley, Wokingham and surrounding areas. We’d also like to update you on why there has been some recent disruption to our services; especially the routine ones.

As you can appreciate, we have had to change our working practices drastically to keep both our clients and our colleagues safe. We never expected the pandemic to go on so long that some of our staff have never worked at our practices when clients have been allowed into the building😩. This, along with the massive increase in pet ownership during lockdown, means we are experiencing a huge demand for our services.

It is becoming a more well known fact that there is also a shortage of vets across the UK due to changes in legislation, Brexit and the global pandemic. This is affecting all practices, not just ourselves at Medivet but many practices across the country. This situation has now reached such a critical level that many practices across the country are having days and nights with no vet on site, some even having to close their doors meaning our vets and nurses have had to step up like never before.

It is likely you will experience similar disruption elsewhere, and we would like to reassure everyone that we are doing everything we can to provide the best possible care and treatment for our patients and clients. We ask that you please bear with us as we work hard to make space for your pets and find time to put up prescriptions along with all the other countless daily tasks that have become more and more challenging.

We would like to apologise for any inconvenience or worry this is causing and we want to reassure you that your furbabies are ALWAYS our number one priority and no matter how short staffed we are we will endeavour to provide the gold standard care that we always have and always will🥇

We hope to get back to normal as soon as possible and are reviewing the situation regularly with our practice staff, regional director and area managers in line with guidance from the RCVS and BVA.

Thank you for your understanding and support during these difficult times🐈‍⬛🐕‍🦺🐇🐾
