It’s really very sad when you hear that local to where we are based wildlife are becoming the victims of catapulting, this is a criminal offence so if you see this happening then please report it - no animal should have to suffer.

Keeping Pets Safe During a Heat Wave ☀️🐾

As temperatures rise, our pets are at real risk of heat stress and heat stroke — conditions that can become life-threatening very quickly. Unlike humans, animals cannot cool themselves efficiently, especially dogs, rabbits, and small pets.

Signs of Heat Stroke

* Excessive panting or drooling
* Lethargy or weakness
* Bright red gums or tongue
* Vomiting or diarrhea
* Confusion or collapse
* Seizures

Heat stroke is an emergency. Immediate veterinary care is essential.

How to Prevent Heat Stroke

🐶 Dogs & Cats

* Walk dogs early morning or late evening
* Avoid hot pavements — if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for paws
* Provide constant access to fresh water
* Keep pets indoors during peak heat
* Use fans, cooling mats, or damp towels
* Never leave pets in cars — even for a few minutes

🐰 Rabbits & Small Pets

* Move hutches out of direct sunlight
* Freeze water bottles and wrap them in towels for cooling
* Ensure excellent ventilation
* Offer fresh greens and extra water

Important Reminder

If you suspect heat stroke:

1. Move the animal to a cool area
2. Use cool (not ice-cold) water on paws, belly, and body
3. Offer small amounts of water
4. Contact your vet immediately

Prevention saves lives. Please check on your pets, neighbours’ animals, and wildlife during extreme heat. 🩺🐾

⚠️Found a young Barn Owl on the ground? It likely needs your help! 🦉🩹

Unlike Tawny Owls, it is not normal for young Barn Owls to be out of the nest before they can fly. On the ground, they are very vulnerable and likely injured ❤️‍🩹
