And that's a wrap, last screening of the week submitted to Vet-IR's veterinary team for interpretation and report of findings.
The screening is completely non evasive and once the horse's have checked out the equipment, they always soon relax and settle in to the process.

If you have been following my page you will know that my mare 'Hope' has KS and SI disease. Which was detected and now monitored by infrared imaging.

Following her last scan I am reasurred that Hope is not in pain. So now with the help of my trainer Wiola, Aspire Equestrian Riding Academy and the Quantum Bridle (which she loves!), we are really focussing on coordination, ie inside hind to outside fore, engagement through the hind and suppleness. Showing her that when she stays relaxed, supple and pushes from her inside hind by understanding the meaning of the rider's inside leg. Then pushing through to the outside rein she will feel comfortable. Rather than pulling herself up through her shoulders, tensing and causing the opposite effect.

Looking forward to next week's session, I think Hope is enjoying them too!

Kissing Spine Syndrome & SI Dysfunction Identified in Headshaker – Infrared Imaging

10 year old mare who was referred for IR imaging due to head shaking/ tossing and increased bronking.

Infrared imaging successfully identified kissing spine syndrome and flagged SI pathology. Which a combined approach of further investigation/ diagnostic imaging and treatment helped to diagnose and manage.

Cases such as these are common and are normally always start with concerns over performance or behaviour. Full body infrared imaging is a superb place to start to gain a full perspective before honing in on regional areas.

Sacroiliac (SI) pathology is often seen on cases relating to long term spinal/ back pathology so it is important that we consider and treat the horse as a whole otherwise we can treat the primary concern and not consider the impact of secondary issues.

“I believe that, if I hadn’t had the thermography report done, Ruby’s diagnoses would have taken much longer to pin down, at the expense of her comfort and wellbeing.” Owner, Jessica Lees
