Going on holiday without your dog is one of those things I don't think is mentioned and spoken about honestly. I think if you are like me as dog owner I find it hard.

The guilt can start before you have even looked at flights. The worry about whether they will be okay. The quiet voice wondering if you should just stay home.

I have felt every single bit of it. In my latest blog I am talking about it openly & honestly because I think it is important.

If the pre-holiday guilt or worry is already creeping in for you this summer, this one is for you. Link in bio 🐾

Tying everything together .....

The fourth and final pillar of Lifestyle Dog Training is Confidence — and I mean confidence for both of you. Not just your dog.

I know that feeling of leaving the house and wondering what you will encounter.

🥹The knot in your stomach when you spot another dog in the distance.
🥹 The way a walk can feel like something to get through rather than something to enjoy.

I have been there myself — and it is one of the reasons I care so much about this work.

When support, real life practice, and understanding all come together, confidence grows. Walks begin to feel lighter. Outings become possible. Life with your dog starts to look more like what you imagined when they first came home.

One of the things I want every client to know is that they are not alone — and that things really can feel different.

National Rescue Dog Day — and I couldn’t let it pass without celebrating the dogs who truly made me the trainer I am today. Rescues have been my greatest teachers. They’ve shown me patience I didn’t know I had, pushed me to think differently, and reminded me why this work matters. Every challenge they brought was a lesson I didn’t know I needed. Here’s to the ones who shaped me. 🐶❤️

Today has been about stepping away from the day to day. Listening to other amazing businesses, learning I am not alone with the challenges I face & understanding that running your own businessis hard but we all share determination, reslience and passion for the business we have created.

What if the behaviour that frustrates you most is actually your dog asking for help?

The third pillar of Lifestyle Dog Training is Understanding — and for so many of the owners I work with, it is the most transformative shift of all.

Behaviour is communication. Every bark, every lunge, every shutdown is your dog trying to tell you something. When we stop asking "why won't they just behave?" and start asking "what is my dog trying to tell me?" — something quietly powerful happens. Frustration begins to soften. And that shift in perspective is not only kinder, it is also far more effective.

A dog who lunges at gates may be scared rather than aggressive.
A dog who ignores recall may be overwhelmed rather than disobedient.
Compassion & curiosity builds trust. Trust builds connection. And connection changes everything.

This is one of my favourite things to write about in my weekly newsletters. If you would like these reflections in your inbox, the sign-up link is in my bio.

One of my favourite things I do is our monthly lives. Clare from and I sit down with some truly wonderful guests. People who see the world of dogs from angles that you might not have considered before. This is because we believe that the more we understand dogs and the people in our industry and community, the better we can support them. No scripts just conversation building those connections with guests who inspire us and challenge the way we think. It’s always interesting, always a little bit unexpected & definitely fun. Got a question bring it along , we Love hearing from you either on the day or getting in touch afterwards.

Clare and I are back with another live that we know will stay with you. This month we're chatting to Jade, co-founder of Street Vet UK — a charity doing extraordinary work caring for the animals belonging to people experiencing homelessness. Because every dog deserves to be seen, loved and cared for.

Does your dog behave perfectly at home — and then fall apart the moment you step out into the real world?

You are not alone. And it is not your fault.

The second pillar of Lifestyle Dog Training is all about Real Life — training in the environments where you and your dog actually spend time. The Thames Path. Prospect Park. The cafés in Caversham. Henley & Reading town centre. These are the places where the skills really need to work, and so that is exactly where we practise them.

When we train in the real world, progress feels meaningful straight away. You do not have to hope the training will transfer into daily life — because you can see it happening during your normal routine.

Understanding your dog are key elements of my weekly newsletters that help dog owners with Lifestyle Dog Training. Sign up via the link in my bio to get the full stories in your inbox.
