I now have some capacity to take on new dogs for solo walks. Not all dogs are suited to pack walks and I really enjoy the one to one connection and the freedom to tailor a walk to the specific needs of the dog.

I am doing a solo walk around lunch time in Horsforth on Tues, Weds and Friday and would like to find another in that area or on the way from Yeadon, either before or after. I would be happy to do additional days if someone is looking for the full week and also just one or two of the days.

I am also now taking bookings for Pet Sits and visits for the Autumn/Winter months. Whatever you are looking for please feel free to get in touch and I will do my best to help.

This is Oskar, one of my regular solo walks. Oskar experiences some separation anxiety so our walks are all about him having a calm and relaxing time. The pace is slow, his choice, and I spend a lot of time waiting for him to finish sniffing whatever he wants because that's what he likes to do. He also loves meeting other dogs so we take every opportunity to have doggy interaction. I do not have permission to let him off the lead so I take a long retractable lead so he can still roll around, which is his other favourite thing, especially in stinky stuff. When we get home I always sit with him for a little while and make sure he is settled before leaving

Last weekend I did a home sit for 8 cats whilst their owners went on a trip: Two sphynx, Nepthys and Casper, Sophie, a beautiful Siberian cat, Hunter a Russian Blue, Izzy, Bengal and the three kittens of Hunter and Sophie, Tucker, Elon and Freya.

The garden of this beautiful house is huge and the first night I could not get the kittens in. They all had trackers so I knew they were close by. Eventually I managed to get them all inside but it was after mid-night when I could finally go to bed. Little scamps!

The next day I discovered the joy of fishing for kittens. They have a cat toy with feathers and bells on a long rod. As it started to get dark I stood on the patio, jiggling the rod, and the kittens shot out of the undergrowth. I played them into the house. It was easy going from then on.

Mona's brother, Ralphie. I do a regular solo walk for each of them weekly as they have very different energy levels and interests. Mona likes a more sedentary pace (until she gets a zoomie on) and enjoys slow, ponderous sniffing. Ralphie is full of bounce and can be reactive with other dogs. I maintain the tactics being used to address this behaviour. I have also now done several sits for this lovely pair.

Since I started my petcare business I have not done as much cat sitting/visiting as I would like. I love all animals, without exception. There is however a special place in my heart for cats. Whilst I grew up with dogs I have never had my own but have often taken care of dogs for friends. I have however had five cats (plus one who is a long term friend). All my cats have found me in one way or another. So, a little indulgence for me, I'd like to share how each of them came to me.

Sweetpea was my first. She had been hanging around the gardens for some time but I didn't recall when I first noticed her. She was not in great shape and I found out she was sleeping behind some fencing at the end of our gardens. I started to feed her as it was clear she was in need of assistance.

I always had my door open and in the evenings she would come in but always leave by 10pm. It felt right to let her do as she pleased. One night she fell asleep on the sofa so I went to bed and left her there. The next morning she had done a wee on the kitchen floor so that day I bought a cat litter and she slept inside from then on.

When I got home from work I was pottering in the garden with her following me around. She was not in a state that was particularly inviting for cuddling and I decided I was going to clean her up. I had zero experience of cats and chuckled to myself wondering how this was going to go. I got some warm water and gauze and returned to the garden calling her to come to me and telling her I was going to wash her face. I was astonished when she stood in front of me and let me do it. So I carried on and cleaned out her ears which were filled with the most appalling black gunk I have ever seen. When I had finished I picked her up and got a shock. She was skin and bones and weighed what felt like almost nothing.

The next day I took her to the vet for a check up. The vet took her out of the carrier and placed her on the table. She let out a plaintive yowl and I, a shocked, "Oh my goodness!". She had no teeth.

Animals are always grateful to those who save them. I poured love on her and she was a devoted and loving companion for the remainder of her life. I hope she got enough from me to erase the hardship she had endured.

I have never before seen a mole. A couple of months ago I was walking with a friend in Lincolnshire when a mole popped out of the ground right next to her foot.

This morning whilst walking round the Dam I saw my second mole. He was by the boggy area at the top end of the Dam but the soil was dry and hard. After having a quick check on line I decided to give him a hand and move him away from the boggy area to somewhere he had more options. I hope I did the right thing. He scuttled away into the undergrowth.

I've got this super sweet boy staying with me this week. His mum is a friend of mine so he has come to stay whilst she is on holiday. He is so good. We went for a walk a few weeks ago as I had not met him previously.

On his first night he woke me up at 1.40am with the gentlest barks. I got up and went downstairs thinking he might want to go out. We went outside for a while but that was not it. Settled him in his bed and went back to bed only to get the same gentle barks 20 minutes later: they are so sweet a sort of quiet Wuff... Wuff. I concluded that perhaps he had woken up and was not sure where he was so I took him up to my bedroom and now his bed is up there and he sleeps in my room. He has very good manners. When I put his food down he waits until I tell him he can have it before diving in. When I am at my desk he sits quietly beside me and follows me wherever I go.

This is us just having a quiet ten minutes this afternoon. I think you can see how relaxed he is. We will be going out for another walk soon.

Bilbo who I had the pleasure of walking when his regular walker was away. When I went to his house to meet his mum he made a big fuss of me, jumped on my lap and stayed there until it was time for me to leave. He is such a character and spending time with him is a gift.

When Otter Met Bilbo

Although at first it seemed important to find big dogs to play with Otter it was in fact the smallest, Bilbo, who became his favourite friend. Bilbo is a tiny dog with a massive personality and totally fearless.

I had arranged to meet up with Bilbo and his walker, Tracey Abbott, on Otter's last walk with me. This is Bilbo and Otter running to greet each other.
