Summer is here at last!!

Please remember though that whilst enjoying the sun our pets might find it too hot - they cannot remove their fur coats!

The risk of Heatstroke is high and pavements/roads get too hot to walk on with bare paws.

No dog has ever died from missing a walk, but plenty have from being walked when it's too hot.

Enjoy the sunshine, David, Katie and the team at PVV

***UPDATE***

The road to the surgery from the Moor (The Blue Vinny end) is finished!! Please can we help the team working on the road by entering and leaving Backwater from this end.

Thank you to the team from Dorset Council Highways for ensuring every customer got to and from Piddle Valley Vets with the minimum disruption

** Roadworks alert ** following on from the rebuilding of the retaining wall to the River Piddle last year, Dorset Council highways are resurfacing Backwater and Mill Street. For much of next week there will be rolling road closures. Please be prepared to follow directions from council workers as to how to access the vets. On each day, as they remove, then relay the surface directly outside the surgery there will be a short period where access is very difficult but it will only be brief (up to 20 minutes). We will be making allowances and waiting for you if you are held up. Obviously if it is an emergency and you are held up in the village then call the surgery and we'll get out to you. Thanks David, Katie and the team here at Piddle Valley Vets

St Valentine was also the patron Saint of Beekeeping. How apt then that we have our first sunny day of the year, with bees flying today.

Happy Valentines Day!

Good news! Despite the persistent grey/rain, the floods have receded and the roads around Puddletown are fully open.

You can all access your favourite, independent Vets as usual.

Still some surface water so go carefully.

Will update if the situation changes again with the 🌧 forecast for this evening.

** update ** please do not try to drive past the Blue Vinny on the moor. This is to protect the houses either side of the road as well as the blue vinny itself. Your cooperation is appreciated **

In common with other parts of Dorset, there are road closures affecting Piddle Valley Vets this morning.
The moor and backwater are closed (in red on map) so access is via tolpuddle or Troy Town, to high street and then down Mill Street
Please allow extra time for your journeys and stay safe out there!
