Life skills graduation! Flossie and Birdie had fun finalising everything in the last class! Hamish & Hector couldn't make it so they are working on everything at home ❤️. Everyone has done so well on this course, so proud of all the dogs and their humans!

Week 3 Life Skills! This week we worked on some cooperative care skills to help with things like grooming/vet visits. We then continued working on things like recall, impulse control and walking skills. The dogs did really well on their emergency stop cues before we finished with learning around! Well done doggos 🐶 👏

Week 5 Puppy Class - Graduation!
Jasper and Minnie finished their The Canine Coven puppy journey on Tuesday! I am so proud of these 2, it has been so nice to see their confidence grow over the course, and they had so much fun with the training games!

Next puppy course will be at a brand new location from September! Stay tuned 👀

Trust is built through lots of small moments where your dog learns that you're safe, predictable and worth choosing. 🤍

✨ Play engagement games.
Engagement isn't just about getting your dog's attention when you need it. Playing games together builds your relationship, teaches your dog that you're rewarding to be around, and makes choosing you feel fun. The more positive experiences you share together, the stronger your connection becomes.

✨ Build confidence together.
Confidence-building exercises show your dog that they're capable of trying new things and overcoming small challenges. Whether it's exploring different surfaces, navigating obstacles or learning new skills, every success helps build self-assurance. As you work through these experiences together, your dog also learns that they can trust you to guide and support them.

✨ Advocate for your dog's space.
One of the kindest things you can do is step in when your dog needs you. Don't be afraid to ask people to give you space, prevent off-lead dogs from rushing over, or move away from situations that feel overwhelming. This is especially important if you're working on reactivity, confidence or simply trying to enjoy a peaceful walk. Every time you advocate for your dog, you're showing them that they don't have to handle everything alone.

If you'd like help building confidence, connection and trust with your dog, I'd love to help. My classes and 1-1 sessions are designed around calm, positive training that puts your dog's emotions first. Send me a message to find out more. 🤍

Real, positive based training takes time. That might be a hard truth for some people. Unfortunately I can't fix your dogs behaviour in one session, I wish I could! Building confidence, building connection and breaking bad habits and building long lasting positive associations means building new habits, new routines and sticking to them, and this does take time.

Don't trust a trainer who says they can fix your dogs behaviour in one session.

After years working with puppies and adolescent dogs, I have learned that you don't necessarily need MORE training, you just need to be consistent and patient with the training instead. Focusing on confidence, connection and calmness will be more effective than adding in endless obedience training. Obedience training has it's place, but it can be too much to ask from an excitable adolescent dog!
