Big well done to the Middle Schoolers smashing their lead walking & recall week 👏. We also looked into recognising fear and stress in our dogs and how best to handle it. Super proud of everyone in this group they are all doing so well!

I completely understand the logic behind exposing them to more dogs, and controlled exposure can be one small part of behaviour change. But you can't fix reactivity in the moment your dog is already reacting.

Every reaction is another big emotional experience, and constantly putting your dog in situations where they feel they need to react can actually make things harder. So trying to expose them to dogs won't actually help.

A huge part of reactivity work happens outside of the reaction:
✨ Building confidence
✨ Strengthening your relationship and communication
✨ Prioritising calmness
✨ Learning how to manage distance and triggers
✨ Giving your dog time to decompress
✨ Teaching alternative behaviours in easier environments

Sometimes the best thing you can do is take the pressure off. Choose quieter routes, walk at quieter times, give your dog space and focus on building their foundations away from the trigger.

You don't need to prove your dog can cope with every dog they see. Help them feel like they don't have to.

If you're struggling with your dog's reactivity and don't know where to start, The Canine Coven can help. 🖤🐾

If you've had a puppy for more than five minutes, there's a good chance you've reached the "what have I done" stage.

The biting, the toilet accidents, the zoomies, the crying, the lack of sleep and wondering how something so small can cause so much chaos… puppyhood can be HARD.

The good news is you're not expected to know everything at this stage. You're learning your puppy just as much as they're learning how to be in the world.

You just need the right support, some realistic expectations and a little bit of patience with yourself. 🤎

If you are looking for puppy support, I have my puppy classes, 1-1 support, The Puppy Spellbook and even some free downloads on my website!

Let's raise confident, calm and connected puppies together. 🐾✨

Week two for Middle Schoolers! We had fun going through the tunnel (always so hard to get pictures of 🤣) and we then did some games around focus and building up a stay, we then did a little stay challenge to finish and everyone did so good!
