🎆 BONFIRE NIGHT IS APPROACHING! 🐾

While fireworks can be exciting for us, the loud bangs and flashing lights can be frightening for our pets. Some may hide, tremble, pace or even try to escape.

A few simple steps can help your furry family members feel safer:

🏡 Create a safe space – Set up a cosy den with their favourite bedding and toys.

🪟 Close windows and curtains – Help reduce outside noise and flashing lights.

📺 Put on some background noise – Relaxing music or the TV may help mask sudden bangs.

🐾 Keep pets indoors – Walk dogs before dark, keep cats inside if possible, and ensure doors and windows are secure.

🆔 Check their identification – Make sure microchip details are up to date and your pet’s collar tag is secure.

💚 Stay with them – Offer comfort and reassurance if they seek it, and let them hide somewhere they feel safe.

If your pet struggles with fireworks every year, don’t wait until Bonfire Night to ask for help.
Our vets and behaviour team can discuss options to help manage their anxiety.

A little preparation now can make a big difference to your pet’s comfort and safety. 🐶🐱

🎉🐾 We’re delighted to share some exciting news! 🐾🎉

The team at Ribble Vets, across our Penwortham, Wesham and Leyland practices, are incredibly proud to announce that we have recently achieved full compliance with the RCVS Practice Standards Scheme (PSS)! 💚

The Practice Standards Scheme, run by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS), recognises veterinary practices that meet rigorous standards and are committed to maintaining and continually improving the quality of their care.

As part of the scheme, our practice is independently assessed every four years, with additional spot checks in between, to help ensure we continue to meet these high standards. Assessments cover a wide range of areas, all working towards one shared goal: providing the best possible care for our patients. 🐶🐱

This achievement reflects the hard work, dedication and commitment of our entire team, who strive every day to provide your beloved pets with compassionate, professional and high-quality veterinary care.

We’re incredibly proud of everyone involved and would like to thank our wonderful clients for your continued trust and support. ❤️

A huge well done to our fantastic team! 🥳👏

It’s good to talk. It’s even better to be heard. 💚

This World Mental Health Day, 10th October, we’re taking a moment to remember just how important it is to talk, listen and look out for one another.

Our pets are such an important part of our lives. They bring us comfort, companionship and unconditional love — and sometimes, simply spending time with them can help us through a difficult day.

But life can be challenging, and there are times when we all need someone to listen.

Being heard helps us feel understood, less alone, and more able to cope with whatever life brings.

That’s why our message this World Mental Health Day is simple:

Talk. Listen. Be there. 💚

Whether it’s a conversation with a friend, a family member, a colleague, or simply checking in with someone who might be having a difficult time — taking a moment to listen can mean more than we realise.

And if you’re struggling, please remember that you don’t have to face things alone. It’s okay to talk, and it’s okay to ask for help.

From all of us at Ribble Vets, let’s look after each other — and enjoy the little moments our pets bring into our lives along the way. 🐾💚

It’s good to talk. It’s even better to be heard.
