🐕❤️ Roselle… The Guide Dog Who Led Her Blind Owner to Safety on 9/11
When the first plane struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center, panic and chaos spread throughout the building. But on the 78th floor, a golden Labrador named Roselle remained remarkably calm.
Roselle was a trained guide dog accompanying her blind owner, Michael Hingson. As the building shook and smoke began filling the air, Roselle did exactly what she had been trained to do — and so much more.
Amid blaring alarms, terrified voices, darkness, and falling debris, Roselle guided Michael through the emergency stairwell, step by step, until they reached safety.
Together, they descended 1,463 stairs, a journey that took nearly an hour. Throughout the descent, Roselle remained focused and steady, helping Michael stay calm during one of the most terrifying moments imaginable.
Just minutes after they finally made it outside, the tower collapsed behind them.
Roselle's courage was more than instinct. It was a powerful expression of loyalty, love, training, and unwavering trust. She never abandoned the person who depended on her most.
On one of the darkest days in modern history, Roselle led her blind owner out of the heart of the disaster and toward life — without giving in to fear.
Roselle passed away in 2011, but her extraordinary story continues to inspire millions around the world.
She wasn't just a guide dog.
She was a hero. 🥹🐕❤️🌹
We will never forget Roselle. And we will never forget the heroes of September 11. 🇺🇸🕊️
