We had a little visitor at Trail Hunt International Club today!

The fabulous Theo popped by to say hello - it was so lovely to see him (and his hooman too) 💛

I was able to hand over an achievement test he did about 12 months ago too which provided a photo op 😆

Theo is currently smashing his way through the The National Nosework Association trials framework so is focusing on this at the moment. But as we were over his neck of the woods today, he popped by to say hi!

Great to see you Rachelle Robinson & Theo ❤️

👃 Knocking the odour 👃

During scent work, a knock on the odour is a sudden, noticeable change in the dog's head movement (turn / tilt) towards the direction of the odour plume.

Here's a great example from Halo as she was working on her Trail Hunt International trail last weekend!

I love watching the dogs while they interpret their odour picture on the trail. They are constantly telling us what's going on with their subtle signals. Learning to "speak dog" through Scentwork is a wonderful skill and it will 100% improve your relationship and bond with your dog 💛

💪 Building Confidence 💪

Scentwork is fantastic for so many things which is why I've chosen to specialise in it, I love it 💙

And here is a fabulous example of how effective it really can be!

Max gets anxious about walking on certain types of surfaces, wood being one such surface. So last week, I placed the Trail Hunt International pod on a decked area which was made of wood.
You'll see Max is not forced to do anything here, he has the option to tap out if he so desires. Giving him choice, time to process and reassurance from his handler allows him to feel confident enough to encounter the "scary" surface to enable him to achieve his goal.... "Find my pod" 👏🥳🎉

I've watched this team develop so much over the last few months. The bond between Jen & Max when they are trailing together is formidable and to see his confidence grow to the point of overcoming his fears is just awe inspiring (and a tad emosh too) 🥹🥰

Well done Team Max - I'm VERY proud of you 💛💛💛
