I've had the most amazing morning introducing this bundle of joy to the wonderful world of Trail Hunt International

Welcoming the very bouncy Briar to our Trail Hunt family 💛

This clever girl (who is only 8 months old) took to it like a duck to water and just naturally started to retrieve her pod!

I got lots of cuddles and face licks in too 😆

You're going to be a superstar trailer Briar 🥳🙌🐾

Building progression into the trails for our Trail Hunt International teams.

This extremely handsome boy is Mr Sociable. He LOVES people and always wants to say hello in his uniquely chatty way 😉

So we anticipated his first attempt to complete a trail with a human on it would be a challenge 🤷

Nah....he proved me and his handler completely wrong. Not only ignoring another participant, but also ignoring me who he finds particularly enticing too 😆

What a super boy and I know he made his mum very proud today 💛

Should we "correct" when things don't go to plan?

During our session today, a very loud group of lads appeared near the field and were a distraction that Loomie became fixated on.

- We could have corrected her....
- We could have called the trail and started again...

Both options may work for some dogs, but Loomie is a young dog who is building her confidence and if we'd done either of these, we ran the risk of knocking that confidence and setting her back on her progress to date.

So here is her handler staying calm and confident and letting Loomie work through things with only a small intervention. Ultimately she shook off the distracting situation and finished her trail, resulting in lots of praise & reward, which means she'd get a hit of dopamine and feel fantastic about what she just did!

Skill up Progression sessions allow the dogs to learn in a low distraction learning environment to maximise the opportunity for success!

I'm super proud of this team and both Shelby and Loomie worked brilliantly today 🥰

Trail Hunt International

Absolutely fantastic Trail Hunt International Skill Up Progression session this morning with the two little superstars that are Loomie & Max 💛

Today's session was Foundations Plus exercises, so for Team Loomie we focused on eliminating human scent on the trails and for Team Max it was all about ignoring actual humans on his trails!

Both dogs did so well and I'm so proud of how far they've both progressed since completing their foundations course!

💙🩵 Enigma Canine Scent Work Partnership Scent Detections Foundations Course has commenced! 🩵💙

I had the absolute pleasure of having Teams Marley and Oli join me this morning to start their journey into the wonderful world of scent detection!

Class 1 is all about Scent identification and teaching the dogs to understand that a specific odour is what they are looking for and that when they find it - great stuff happens! 😉

Both teams have made a fantastic start and now have some practice to do at home 😁

Really looking forward to seeing these two progress over the next 6 weeks 💙
