Although we offer all the Royal Kennel Club Good Citizen Awards, we do lots of other sessions throughout the year. This week it was……
Brain Games.
The aim of this session was to get dogs thinking for themselves - so what to do to get the reward - whether treat or praise. With every challenge the dogs were presented with tasks, but no prompts. They had to work out what was expected of them. Very few words were spoken meaning the dogs had to rely on thinking things out for themselves and, when they did, they were rewarded.
Part way through the session, dogs were encouraged to settle and watch their handlers colouring in a picture. It was great to see how many dogs did settle well as handlers worked on their art work!
Topics covered included the Vito game; Movement Puzzle; Knock the Bottle; Different/Odd and Ball in the Cone.
All the dogs and handlers did amazingly well. They have homework to do before the next session in two weeks time.
