It features intricate models, including G scale Thomas and Friends trains, delighting visitors of all ages. Southsea Model Village is a 1/12th scale village built in 1956. We are located on Southsea seafront next to the canoe lake and rose gardens. Just 30 seconds walk from the beach. There is also ample parking only 100 yards walk away. The model village is a delightful place to spend time for bo

th young and old. Set in beautifully maintained gardens with 100s of different varieties of flowers it truly is a great place to spend a afternoon or day. We have a Toy Museum with toys from the past and present. An interactive miniature model fairground. The Rifleman's Tunnel which is 125ft long and holds our scale handmade model of Portsmouth Guildhall and Spinnaker Tower. Also our large g scale railway with Thomas And Friends,chugging around the Village which is especially enjoyed by our younger visitors. Not forgetting our own Castle over looking the Solent with wonderful views for miles, a perfect spot for a picnic. We have a great Snack Bar on site serving ice cream,hot & cold food, including Chips, hot dogs ,homemade gourmet burgers and baguettes with fillings of your choice all freshly made.

The real Jacket Potato Ladies have built up a fantastic following with their delicious loaded spuds, and we’re delighted to have them represented in miniature form.

So if you spotted the video and thought something was missing… you were right! 😆

A Walk Past Some Local Legends.

I’ve just filmed a little walk-by video of one of my favourite corners of the village, packed with miniature versions of some fantastic local businesses that many of you will recognise.

Take a stroll past Tremletts Chemist, Cosham Dog Grooming, Marabella’s Boutique, Gilbert’s Sweet Shop, Material Things, Brocante (my 1st solo build), Highland Road Dental Practice, and U-Need-Us – all recreated in miniature and sitting proudly in their own little corner of Southsea.

What makes this area extra special for me is that all bar 1 of these buildings were originally made by my mum & dad.
Every time I walk past them, it brings back memories of the hours we spent building, arguing 😝 and creating together.

It’s amazing how much character these local businesses add to the village, and hopefully the video gives you a chance to spot some of the tiny details you might normally miss.

My next project is Keydells Nurseries but what should I build after that 🤔

A year ago, if you’d asked me about plants and flowers, I’d have looked at you blankly.
I genuinely didn’t know a w**d from a flower. In fact, at one point I decided the best way to get rid of w**ds in the grass was to spray w**d killer all over it… which, unsurprisingly, left us with dead grass for ages! 🤦🏼‍♂️😂

Fast forward to today and things have changed a bit.

Since Keydell Nurseries started helping us fill the village with plants and flowers, and with plenty of guidance from village volunteer Kim and the girls from Keydells, I’ve found myself developing a real love for it all.
Never in a million years did I think I’d be spending my time planning borders, moving conifers around, dead heading and deciding what goes where, and spending hours every week watering plants.

But you know what? It’s worth every minute.

The village is looking better than it ever has, and this is really only the beginning. As everything grows, fills out and becomes established over the next few months and years, it’s going to look absolutely incredible.

A huge thank you to Kim, Vicky, Mel and everyone at Keydell Nurseries for their patience, advice and hard work. You’ve converted a bloke who once killed his own lawn trying to save it!

The village is changing every week, so if you haven’t visited for a while, come and see how it’s growing.

🎉🏺 A very special new addition to Southsea Model Village… 🏺🎉

Today we had the pleasure of unveiling something a little different… and honestly, one of the loveliest surprise projects we’ve done.

This is a miniature recreation of “Brocante” on Castle Road… built as a surprise for owner David Evans on his 80th birthday today! 🎂

David’s family got in touch with us and asked if we could recreate his much-loved antique shop in miniature form, complete with all the little details that make the real place so recognisable.
So of course… we went that extra mile and even created a miniature David standing proudly outside the shop too.

David has owned and run Brocante for 13 years and, at 80 years old, is still working 6 days a week. Fair play.
David’s still out there buying, selling and keeping Castle Road interesting. Absolute legend. 👏

Seeing his reaction today made all the tiny painting, building and fiddly detail work worth it.

Happy 80th Birthday David from all of us at Southsea Model Village! 🍻

If you know Castle Road, you’ll definitely recognise this one when you visit. Keep an eye out for miniature David outside his shop.
