☀️With the hot weather now here, I just wanted to go over our safe guarding plans for walks.☀️
1. We would much rather you cancel your walk in the heat, free of charge. Knowing your dog is safe is more important to us than getting paid. Please cancel before 8.30 that day so we can move dogs around if needs be.
🏠 Don't forget we can also do pop-ins to play inside and be let in the garden for a toilet break. This will be after walks are finished.
2. We will be starting earlier. Instead of starting pick-ups at 9, we will be leaving our houses at 8.30 to try to get everyone out earlier when it's a little cooler.
3. We will try to prioritise brachycephalic (squishy faced), large, elderly and dogs home alone on the morning walks in that order. If you do not fall into these criteria and have specifically asked for a certain time that we can not honour, we will let you know we are moving them.
4. The vans are both air-conditioned, and when we are picking up and dropping off dogs, we try to keep them as cool as possible. As you know, we love a chat. You all know we do! But please try to keep the talking to a minium. We will have other dogs in the van, and we do not want to be leaving them any longer than we need to be.
5. We will do all we can to keep the dogs cool on our walks. We will be taking at least 10L of water with us for drinking. We will be staying in the shade as much as possible with one of us sitting with the dogs at the water bowl, while the other does a small walk up and down the shade for those who want to join.
6. Walks may be cut short.
🏠 If we run out of water - we go home.
🏠 If anyone is struggling - we go home.
Please do remember we aren't miracle workers that can keep your dogs cooler than you can. If you're not willing to walk your dog in heat, we shouldn't be walking them either.
As the old saying goes, "NO DOG EVER DIED FROM MISSING A WALK!"🐾
