I qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2017 and spent my first years at my training practice, Orchard Vets in Romsey, before taking on the role of Veterinary Practice Manager. I returned to full time nursing in 2021 after moving to Portsmouth and starting at The Cat Clinic in Southsea. I am passionate about minimising stress for animals during their time under veterinary care and I recogn

ise that owners have differing needs too. As such I have always felt there is a space in veterinary nursing for care outside of the practice where clients’ requirements can be accommodated alongside that of the patient and so I am proud to be launching Vet Nurse Jenny as part of the new District Veterinary Nurse concept. At home my husband Adam and I have a cat called Amber, who was rescued after being abandoned at 6 months old, and two bunnies, Ricochet and Rocket, who came from the Cat and Rabbit Rescue Centre. We are also hoping to add a canine friend to our family very soon.

Hello everyone 👋

I'm Jenny, a District Veterinary Nurse providing at-home nursing care for pets across Portsmouth and the surrounding areas.

I'm incredibly proud to have recently been awarded Veterinary Nurse of the Year at the Southern Region Animal Star Awards. Being recognised for doing a job I truly love means so much.

🌸 Spring = flea & tick season! 🐾

As it warms up, parasites become more active so it’s important to keep your pet protected.

Quick tips:
✔️ Always apply spot-on treatments directly to the skin (not just on the fur)
✔️ Part the fur between the shoulder blades where your pet can’t lick
✔️ Avoid bathing your pet for a couple of days before and after application
✔️ Make sure you’re using the correct product for your pet’s weight and species

I can’t prescribe but I’m happy to administer treatments you’ve been given 😊

❤️ The final week of Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month is all about Passion.

Veterinary nursing has always been more than just a job for me and it’s the passion for helping owners and their pets that led me to set up my District Veterinary Service - Vet Nurse Jenny 🩵

From visiting pets at home, to supporting elderly or vulnerable clients, to helping animals stay comfortable outside of a clinic setting… it all comes from having a genuine passion to make things easier for pets and their owners.

"Vet Nurse Jenny was amazing! Jenny visited for my cat Mimi's blood pressure, and Mimi has never been so calm. Mimi doesn't get too stressed at the vets but does have to be held firmly and yells. Instead I was able to just stroke Mimi's head whilst Jenny took several consistent readings. Jenny was friendly and informative and I highly recommend her. We'll definitely be using her services in the future!"
