The toughest part of my job !!! Funds 😎 and seeing kids leave the sport because of it.
Can our followers bear us in mind for applicable funding and tag us ✅
Filling the gaps in funds to keep the operation going has been my toughest gig. (Even more so now I can’t ride the next six weeks)
Seeing kids I know benefit from the all hands on deck equestrian sport and way of life not have access to it due to a family’s financial constraints.
I cannot fund it I have tried. But my costs equate to £100 a week basic maintenance & education package for a loaner to have access to a pony as their own before additional expenses. One pony can only be asked to do so much work and often a committed horse child participating in sporting activities will use that ponies quota.
The leaning comes from the routine management. The care the routines the commitment and the development of the resilience rollercoaster that is ponies.
Horse kids work harder than most for their sport. They have to show up no matter what and care for their pony. It’s not a sport you choose lightly. It’s a way of life some of us choose to live and love.
If parents see their kids shine in the sport and their confidence grow money doesn’t become a barrier.
Funding opportunities are limited because Ponies is considered a luxury by those who don’t understand it or can’t relate to the learning it brings.
But I see my ponies as therapists, best friends & family and alternative education for those who need it 🥰
They teach life lessons sometimes conventional teaching cannot.
They are the building blocks of happy, confident, responsible, think outside the box, resilient adults with a problem solving mindset and work ethic to take them where they want to go in life.
Horse folk don’t count costs because money can’t buy the happiness and lifestyle- it’s the work goes into it does 😊
The journey is one of hard work and perseverance !!
Horse kids aren’t spoilt and it’s far from luxury. It’s early morning late nights back breaking work in all weathers. They are growing and challenging themselves- breaking barriers some adults have never got the opportunity to.
