🐾 Top Tip Tuesday: Seasonal Allergies in Dogs & Cats 🌿
Just like us, both dogs and cats can suffer from seasonal allergies, especially during the warmer months when pollen, grasses, and other environmental allergens are at their peak.
Some common signs to watch for include:
🐾 Excessive scratching, licking, or grooming
🐾 Red, irritated, or inflamed skin
🐾 Chewing at paws or over-grooming feet
🐾 Watery eyes or nasal discharge
🐾 Ear irritation or recurring ear infections
🐾 Hair loss or sore patches from constant scratching
There are some simple ways you can help reduce exposure to allergens:
🌿 Wipe paws and coats after walks or outdoor adventures
🌿 Regular grooming and bathing to remove pollen and debris
🌿 Keep bedding, blankets, and favourite resting spots clean
🌿 Speak to your vet about suitable supplements or natural remedies that may help
⚠️ A gentle reminder: never give your dog or cat human allergy medication unless your vet has specifically advised it. Some medications that are safe for people can be dangerous for pets, and the correct treatment will depend on their individual needs.
If your pet seems itchier than usual this time of year, it’s always worth having a chat with your vet to rule out allergies and discuss the best way to keep them comfortable.
