We are pleased to announce the official Dog House Cafe re-opening date will be on Friday 11th September.

Panini’s will be returning to the menu alongside other exciting new things.

For now, our winter opening hours will be closed monday-thursday and open:
Friday: 10-4pm

🍁Autumn and What It Means For Your Pond!

Today marks the first day of meteorological autumn which is the perfect season to prep your pond for the colder months ❄️

Maintenance:
🍂 Net out falling leaves: Cover the pond with a net to stop leaves from sinking, rotting, and causing spring algae.

🪾 Trim dying foliage: Cut back fading water lilies and marginal plants before they decay in the water.

⚙️ Service Your Pump and Filtration System

Your pump and filter have worked hard throughout the summer.

Autumn is the ideal opportunity to:

Clean pump impellers.
Rinse filter media (using pond water where appropriate).
Check UV clarifiers.
Inspect pipework.
Remove blockages.

🍴 Feed Fish Less as Temperatures Drop

Fish become less active as water temperatures decrease.

As temperatures fall:

Reduce feeding gradually.
Switch to wheatgerm-based food if appropriate. You should start mixing wheat germ into your pond fish's diet from mid-September to October, or whenever the water temperature consistently drops below 10°C to 15°C.
