🪿 Meet Gorgeous Goose! 🪿
This gorgeous 6-month-old Golden Retriever came to see us this week for his 4-week recheck following bilateral angular limb deformity correction surgery on his forelimbs.
When Goose first came to us, his front legs were bowed inward at the wrists, with his paws turning outward. This was causing him to buckle when walking and affecting his mobility.
To correct the deformity on the left forelimb, Phil performed two opposing closing wedge osteotomies of the radius, securing the corrected bone with plates and screws. An ulnar ostectomy, removing a section of the ulna, was also performed.
On the right forelimb, the deformity was corrected using a transphyseal staple placed over the distal radial growth plate to help slow the growth of the radius and allow the limb to gradually realign. An ulnar ostectomy was also performed on this side.
We’re delighted to report that Goose’s latest X-rays show excellent bone healing, and his recovery is progressing beautifully! 🥰🐾
A huge well done to Goose for being such a superstar throughout his treatment, supported by endless cuddles from the nursing team!💛
