How does your horse feel about mounting?
How they behave when mounting tells you a lot about how they feel about being ridden.
When I became a bit too heavy for Renn a while ago, she began not standing nicely for the mounting block.
This, among a few other things told me that she wasn't enjoying riding together like she used to.
Fortunately my horses are all allowed to express their feelings, so we never reached a point where she was in pain or we as suffering any damage because she was able to tell me before we were anywhere near that point.
Listening to your horse is hard, not only because it can be hard to understand but more so because it can be a bit hard to hear.
Our horses may be telling us things we wish weren't the case.
Things that may cost money and professionals to fix.
But there's no feeling like this.
When we've made sure all their needs are taken care of, and our horses are free to choose, they often choose us.
There is no better feeling than that.
