❄️ The cold weather is coming! Keep your furry family members safe and warm! 🐾

As the temperature drops, our pets need a little extra care to stay happy and healthy. While some dogs love the frost, cold weather poses real health risks to both dogs and cats.

Here are our top safety tips to keep your pets safe this winter:
🐾 Wipe those paws: De-icing salts and grit used on roads and pavements can cause chemical burns on sensitive paw pads. Always wipe or rinse your pet's paws after winter walks.

❄️ Keep them cozy: If it’s too cold for you, it’s too cold for them. Keep short-haired, elderly, or arthritic pets warm with a well-fitted winter coat, and limit outdoor time on freezing days.

🚗 Check under the bonnet: Outdoor or stray cats often look for warm shelter under car bonnets or wheel arches. Always tap your bonnet before starting your engine.

💧 Fresh water access: Regularly check outdoor water bowls to ensure they haven't frozen over.

🏠 Bring small pets inside: Rabbits, guinea pigs, and ferrets are highly vulnerable to freezing temperatures. Move their hutches into a sheltered shed, garage, or indoors.

If you notice your pet shivering, slowing down, or showing signs of discomfort in the cold, bring them inside immediately.

Dinika had a brilliant day representing Folly Veterinary Centre at the Usk Show.

No poorly patients on the day — just plenty of friendly faces, great conversations, and lots of pet owners stopping by for advice and a chat.

Thank you to everyone who came to say hello. It’s always a pleasure to meet our community outside the clinic.
