🐾 IMPORTANT NOTICE: GROOMING PRICE UPDATE FROM 1ST JANUARY 2027 🐾
Firstly, I want to say a huge thank you to all my lovely customers for supporting Essential Pet Care. ❤️ Your continued support means so much to me, and I never take the trust you place in me to care for your beloved dogs for granted.
I always try to keep my prices as fair and affordable as possible. For several years, I've done my very best to absorb the increasing costs of running my business rather than passing them on to you.
Unfortunately, with the continued rise in the cost of living, professional grooming products, utilities, equipment and general running expenses, I have now reached the point where a small price adjustment is necessary.
From 1st January 2027, my grooming prices will increase by 6%.
I appreciate that any price increase can be difficult, so I want to explain why this is necessary and what it actually means.
✂️ WHAT DOES A 6% INCREASE LOOK LIKE?
For a groom currently priced at £35, a 6% increase works out at just £2.10 per groom, bringing the new price to £37.10.
🐶 WHERE DOES THE MONEY FROM A GROOM ACTUALLY GO?
It's easy to look at the price of a groom and assume that most of it is profit. In reality, there are many costs behind every appointment.
🧴 Professional grooming products – Shampoos, conditioners, coat treatments, cleaning products and finishing products. I choose quality products to care for your dog's coat, and every groom includes my ReQual Vital Shampoo and a finishing touch of ReQual Millennium perfume.
⚡ Electricity – Professional dryers, clippers, grooming tools, lighting and other equipment all use electricity. Dryers in particular can consume a significant amount of energy.
💧 Water and hot water – Every bath uses water, and there are additional costs involved in heating that water, washing towels and keeping the grooming area clean.
✂️ Equipment and maintenance – Clippers, blades, scissors, grooming tables and dryers all require maintenance, sharpening, servicing and eventual replacement. These are ongoing business expenses.
🧺 Laundry and cleaning – Towels, detergents, disinfectants and the products needed to keep equipment and the grooming environment hygienic between dogs.
🏠 Business running costs – Insurance, administration, advertising, banking charges, waste disposal and other overheads all contribute to keeping a small business running.
❤️ My time, training and experience – Every dog receives individual attention, patience and care. Each groom is tailored to the dog's coat, needs, temperament and comfort. My professional training and years of experience help me provide a safe, caring and professional service.
And, of course, I need to earn a living from my business, just like everyone else.
💷 WHY I CAN NO LONGER ABSORB THESE INCREASES
In previous years, I've tried to manage rising expenses myself wherever possible. However, the costs of products, electricity, water and equipment continue to increase, and these expenses have to be covered somehow.
As a small, independent business, I don't have the buying power of a large grooming chain or multiple salons across which to spread the costs. I run Essential Pet Care myself, and every appointment involves product usage, utilities, equipment wear and tear, and business overheads.
The 6% increase will help me manage these rising costs and continue providing the standard of care, quality products and individual service my customers expect.
I never want to compromise on the products I use, the time I give each dog or the care I take simply to keep my prices unchanged.

Essential Pet Care will continue to offer a friendly, professional, one-to-one grooming service in a calm, homely environment, with every groom tailored to the individual dog.
Your dogs are never just another appointment to me. I care about their comfort, their welfare and making their grooming experience as positive as possible.
