World Pet Memorial Day 🥰
World Pet Memorial Day was created by the American Veterinary Medical Association to celebrate a special day to memorialise beloved pets that have passed away.
Although pets are only in our lives for a short time, they stay in our memories forever❤️
There are many ways that you as an owner can honour the memories you have with your pet. For example:
1. Create a pet photo album/ frame
2. Draw/ Paint your pet
3. Get a tattoo in memory of your pet
4. Plant a pet memorial garden
5. Go for a walk/ hike
6. Donate/ Volunteer in your pets name
We offer a free paw print and bottle of fur after the passing of your beloved pet.

National Best Friend Day 🥰
Dogs, cats and small furries are our best friends too.
They provide companionship, teach our children about responsibility, give us new purpose during
retirement and helped us tackle loneliness during the Covid-19 lockdown back in 2020.
Animals help us with our mental health, they offer emotional support in many situations, they listen and don’t judge us, they’re there when we feel lonely. They also help us physically by getting us out in the fresh air on a walk.

A message regarding your pet’s insurance:

To aid our insurance team in successfully submitting your claims, please could you ensure that we have the correct insurance information on file.

Sometimes, when your pet’s policy renews, their policy number may change. Please be vigilant in checking this and letting us know, so that we can update your pets information on our system. As well as this, if your pet is registered with us under one name, but their insurance policy is under a different name / details, please let us know. This also applies to when you change address or change your surname, in a way that differs to the information on your pets policy.

We have also now implemented a new system when booking in procedures.

If you have to book your pet in for the day to have a procedure (excluding neutering) you will be asked to provide your insurance documents for us to look at. This is just so we can confirm everything is ok to go ahead with a claim and check your excess amount.

‼️ Grass Seeds & Dogs ‼️

Summertime means grass seeds and we are starting to see a lot of patients coming in with grass seeds stuck in various places such as paws, noses, eyes and ears 🐶

‼️ Always check your dog for grass seeds if they have been running in long grass. Remove any grass seeds you find, these may be between toes, around their eyes or even around their armpits.

Due to their pointy end, grass seeds can easily pierce skin, enter the body and travel around causing issues such as abscesses and infection. Should you find a grass seed stuck in your dog, please contact the practice as they need to be removed quickly!

Did you know it’s a legal requirement in the UK for pets to be microchipped?

🐶 Dogs have had to be microchipped by the age of 8 weeks since April 2016.
🐱 Cats have been legally required to be microchipped since June 2024.

A microchip gives your pet the best chance of being reunited with you if they ever go missing 💙

This month, we proudly recognise and celebrate the dedication, professionalism, and compassion of our veterinary nurses.

Here at our practice, we are incredibly fortunate to have a team of 9 Registered Veterinary Nurses and 2 Student Veterinary Nurses who work tirelessly to provide outstanding care to our patients and support to their owners every day.

Veterinary nurses play an essential role in patient care — from monitoring anaesthetics and assisting in procedures to providing comfort, nursing care, and expert advice throughout every stage of a pet’s journey.

Their knowledge, commitment, and kindness are at the heart of everything we do, helping ensure every patient receives the highest standard of care.

To our incredible nursing team: thank you for your hard work, skill, and unwavering compassion. Your contribution to animal welfare does not go unnoticed. 💙
