Did you know we offer this at Sensory Dogs?

Your dog gets to sniff, explore and enjoy the sensory room… while YOU get the chance to pick my brains!

Training questions? Behaviour questions? Enrichment ideas? Or one of those β€œWhy on earth does my dog do THAT?!” questions? πŸ˜‚

That’s exactly what our Explore & Learn sessions are for.

🐢 Your dog enjoys their Sensory Dogs experience.

πŸ’¬ You get 45 minutes to ask questions.

🐾 Practical, professional advice tailored to you and your dog.

You learn. They explore.

Sensory Dogs has been incredibly busy recently, and seeing so many dogs coming through our doors and enjoying the space has been absolutely amazing. So thank you so much to everyone who has been supporting our business ❀️.

With lots of new visitors, however, we’ve had a few occasions recently where some of our important visiting rules haven’t been followed. So we wanted to pop up a little reminder about how things work at Sensory Dogs and, most importantly, why these rules are in place.

When you book a session with us, you will receive a confirmation email containing important information about your visit and what to do before you arrive.

Please make sure you take a few minutes to read this before coming to Sensory Dogs, even if you have visited us before.

We know that finding somewhere new can sometimes be a little daunting, so we have provided several ways to help you easily find and identify Sensory Dogs before your visit, including an easy-to-read map showing exactly where we are.

All of this information is provided in your confirmation email, so please check this before setting off.

There is a 15-minute gap between every appointment, and this isn't simply spare time between bookings.

Many of the dogs who visit us are anxious, nervous, reactive or simply need a calm, low-pressure environment. We carefully manage arrivals and departures to reduce the chance of dogs unexpectedly meeting outside the building.

This means:

🐾 Please do not arrive more than 5 minutes before your appointment.

🐾 If you do arrive early, please DO NOT park directly outside our unit. Please wait away from Sensory Dogs and only approach/park outside when it is time for your appointment. This allows the previous dog to leave calmly and safely without unexpectedly seeing another dog waiting outside.

🐾 Please don't allow your dog to wander around outside our unit whilst it is the appointment time of another client.

That buffer is an important part of how Sensory Dogs operates. For some of the dogs who visit us, unexpectedly coming face-to-face with another dog or person could be incredibly stressful. The buffer helps us protect their experience from the moment they arrive until the moment they leave.

We've also recently had people randomly turning up at Sensory Dogs to have a look around before deciding whether to book, ask questions, or coming days before their appointment to check where we are.

While we completely understand that you may want to familiarise yourself with where you're going, please DO NOT turn up at Sensory Dogs unless you have an appointment at that time.

We do not offer drop-in visits or viewings.

We have provided clear directions, an easy-to-read map and information to help you locate us within your booking confirmation email, so there should be no need to visit the premises beforehand to find us.

Sensory Dogs isn't a shop or a traditional dog centre where people can simply pop in.

Behind our closed doors could be a nervous, anxious or reactive dog enjoying their private 45-minute sensory session. Unexpected people approaching the entrance, knocking on the door, looking around or dogs appearing outside can potentially disrupt their session and cause unnecessary stress.

When somebody books Sensory Dogs, that time and space belongs to them and their dog.

We want every dog who visits us to receive the same privacy, calm and consideration.

So, as a quick reminder:

🐾 Please read your confirmation email before visiting.

🐾 Use the directions and map provided to help you find us.

🐾 Do not arrive more than 5 minutes early.

🐾 If you are early, do not park directly outside our unit.

🐾 Only come to Sensory Dogs when you have a booked appointment.

🐾 Please do not pop in for a look around, to ask questions or to find us ahead of a future appointment.

If you have any questions before booking or visiting, please contact us online rather than popping in.

These rules aren't there to make visiting difficult or because we're being unfriendly. They are an important part of what makes Sensory Dogs different and allow us to welcome dogs who may find traditional dog environments incredibly difficult.

Every dog deserves to enjoy their 45 minutes without worrying about who might suddenly appear outside the door.

Thank you for helping us keep Sensory Dogs a calm, safe and supportive space for every dog who visits us and thank you again for keeping us so incredibly busy! We really do appreciate every booking, recommendation and share. 🐾

🐾 So… what do dogs actually DO at Sensory Dogs?

We've welcomed lots of new followers recently, so we thought we'd properly introduce you to what happens inside our sensory room.

For 45 minutes, your dog has the entire private room to explore at their own pace.

They can sniff, forage, investigate different scents, textures and enrichment activities, use their nose to work things out… or simply find somewhere comfy and relax.

There's no set route and nothing they have to do.

Your dog leads the session. 🐢

Some dogs investigate absolutely everything. Others become completely absorbed in one particular scent or activity. And some surprise their owners by simply slowing down.

That's the beauty of Sensory Dogs giving dogs the freedom and opportunity to make their own choices.

πŸ“ We're based in Plympton, Plymouth.
